Facts About the Teeth. The teeth must "be kept in good or der. Western nations seem to have a general lack of good teeth, in great contrast to eastern nations. Thus the Hindoos have good teeth till quite aged. They take great care to keep them clean. After meals they chew a bit of wood to a pulp, and so rub all debristtway. A missionary movement was once actually started among culti vated Hindoo gentlemen to convert the English classes to better habits of bodily religion. The neglect of proper observances in the matter of health in England seemed to them monstrous and deserving charitable instruction Cold water is said to crack the den tine. I cannot vouch for this myself. Dentists tell us chewing of hard sub stances is needed, the pressure causing I growth of the circulating vessels and | good nutrition and repair in the tooth I I substance.—Dr. M. L. Holbrook’s Lee ture. California’s I'ruit Pest. California has a fruit pest in the gray linnet far worse and more dam aging to fruit raisers than the English sparrow. If some means are not sys- ■ tematically and methodically adopted to exterminate this bird there will be very little profit in fruit raising in those sections where deciduous fruits are exclusively produced. Some have an aversion to destroying this or any other bird, but then it takes millions of dollars to sustain ana support the luxury. This bird is very fastidious; it takes the best fruit; hence its sup port comes from the otherwise profit of the orchardist. —New York Tele gram. Cheap Flaeh Ijuup for Photography. Take a piece of bulb rubber tubing and draw it over the stem so that you can place the tube in your ! mouth and blow through the pijie. Next weigh out the amount of magne sium you want for your flash, then place it in the bowl of the pipe. Take . some alcohol and saturate the absorb ent cotton. When you have focused your subject, and decided where to have your light, ignite the alcohol.
