The undersigned have associated themselvs together under the Him L name Frost <fc Simkins for the ''purpose of continuing the publica- of The Evening Post. They BUI pay all debts against the old ' I lv nt and Fret and . i.'.T due them. I M m. w Benition of the people of Hr - K Mn in the past. an advertising medium, the •afternoon paper is a recognized insti ’ tution. The gentlemen who huve succeeded to the management and ownership of The Post are young, energetic and alive to the wants of the community. That they will con tinue to publish a newspaper that will command the respect of its readers, whilst interesting them, as a chronicle of public events, every assurance is offered. W. P. Kent. THE NEW MANAGEMENT. bt ith this issue The Post begins to a certain extent a new life. Iho new firm is made up of Mr. trust, who has been the busi ness manager ol The Post since its first issue, and Mr. Eldred Simkins who been foreman of the paper for about two months. Both of these young men are well known to the merchants and citizens of Brunswick. 1 hey will devote all their time and energy to one end—giving the peo ple a bright, newsy paper and help ing as tar as in them lies to build up Brunswick and spread her good name abroad in the land. 1 hey have very little capital and are dependent entirely upon the pat ronage of the people, hoping and ex pecting to deserve whatever patron age is given them. The Post will continue to follow the principles laid down in the be gin-iing and with “malice towards none and charity for all” endeavor fearlessly to uphold the right and comdemn the wrong. The columns of The Post are open at all times for a full and free dis cussion by its patrons of, any ques tion which may affect the welfare of Brunswick; in fact dissuasions of this kind, when not made in an un pleasant manner, a.e invited. There is ample room in this field for two papers and the management I believes that the Times and The Post will both continue to live and prosper. ' SANDWICHES STEWING Dispatches from .Seattle Wash.Ter. ‘ announce the strong probability of a revolution on the Hawaiian Islands. Admiral Brown, of the flagship Char leston who lias just returned from Honolulu, expressed the belief in an interview, that the next steamer from these islands would bring the news of a revolution and probably of the declaration of a new republic, lie said: “Hitherto the Hawaiian govern ment has been managed largely by- Europeans and Americans, but the i educated natives are beginning to led that they arc competent to con ’ duct the government and that the I part played by foreigners in the con trol of affairs is an unwarrantable ' interference with their sacred rights. | Accordingly the schooled natives have gathered around them a bard of followers, daily increasing in strength, who have raised the cry f “Hawaii for Hawaiiaus.” The mal contents have, in meeting with the - mechanics’ union, passed reso lutions asking that this patronage be given to the natives and members -» of tiieir own party, anil this request j 1 has been ignored by the government, i The United States, knowing the un j settled condition of affairs, sent the j Charleston out there about three i months ago to protect our citizens £ and our interests. Dttrizg all my stay there matters were becoming more and more per turbed, and an uprising by the rev olutionists was actually planned for August. I learned of it on the first day of the month, but we received ■ sailing orders on the second. The 1 I news of out intended dep vrture evi • dently led the revolutionary party to postpone until after we left the exe cution of their design, but I confi- ] ibutly expect to hear by the next advices from Honolulu that there has been an actual outbreak and rc- I volution attempted if not really ac- . i complished.” ■* Mr. Wm P. KENT. This gentleman who retires ' from the editorship of The Post 1 1 1 1 carries with him the very best wishes ? of his successor and former partner in business. Mr. Kent has done good work in Brunswick, of this there can be no j- doubt. He has been fearless and able in his writings, and has made for himself a name and reputation k in Georgia journalism. i He will continue in this line in > another field, and every patron t of Thu Post will join the manage ment in wishing for Mr. Kent the most abundant success wherever he 1 may go. , ' i ' The people of California recently presented to President Harrison an invitation to attend the celebration > of the fortieth anniversary of the ad mission of that state into the Union. 1 . The invitation was engraved on a . plate of solid gold of great weight and value. It is reported that the grandfather of baby McKee was overcome with delight at this ex- s ceedingly impressive manifestation ' • of the people’s regard, and accord- f ingly accepted the plate but declined , the invitation. Benjamin has a keen appreciation of the proprieties of life. 1 A special from Americus to the ® Macon Telegraph announces that; , ( Mr. Graham Forrester at one time city editor of the Brunswick Times c and more recently connected with the Americus Recorder has accepted a st position on the editorial staff of the Americus Times. Graham is a first 7,, class newspaper man and bis Bruns- - wick friends will be glad to learn of his promotion. He will prove quite an addition to the already well edited j Times. The merchants of Brunswick are jubilant over the outlook for the fall and winter trade. t|uite a number j of new firms are beginning business \ here, but this competition only j serves to and increase the city’s already immense business, j There is room in this growing city 1 I for still many others and to any ; who are thinking of engaging in bus iness here The Post says, “come on there is success here for you.” Governor Gordon has issued a call inviting the governors of the cotton states to meet in Atlanta on the 10th day of September next, for the purpose of considering the ques- | tion of direct trade, as well as ques tions relating to weights, insurance, freights and handling of the fleecy staple. The result of this meeting j will be watched .with much interest. The St. Louis Globe Democrat has overheard a soliloquy of David B. Hill in which the hot-house pea nut of a statesman puts the follow- - ing perplexing quid to himself: “1 wonder if Mr. Powderly can't . postpone this strike until after IS*2. I'd bate to t all out the militia, and yet i may have to. I think Clcve- * land and Whitney are ut the bottom of the whole thing." — I There is an editor in Colorado * named Hell west, but he is ►aid not • to be crooked.
