Harpist to perform benefit concert

We made a quick trip to Happy-
haus this week and enjoyed some
lovely cool mornings and evenings.
We lost power one evening in a bit of
a storm. My sister Jo from Jackson
ville found the blackberry patch and
is going home with berries to make
a cobbler or jam. We managed to get
over to the Georgia Mountain Fair
in Hiawassee where we bought a few
little things and took in one of the
stage shows. Fun!
Frederica Baptist Church
reports that Deborah Wright is hos
pitalized in Jacksonville and Mary
McBee is hospitalized in Waycross.

ren in the death of her grandmoth

Chicago Harpist, Marguerite
Lynn Williams will perform a benefit
concert at Christ Church Frederica
Parish House Saturday, August 9 at
3 p.m.
Ms. Williams has performed
throughout the United States,
Europe and Asia as a soloist, cham
ber musician and orchestra mem
ber. Venues include Carnegie Hall,
Shostakovich Hall (St. Petersburg,
Russia) and Symphony Center in
Chicago.
She has won numerous prizes
including First Prize of the Anne
Adams National Competition spon
sored by the American Harp Society
in both 1998 and 1999; the National
Endowment of the Arts Artist Rec
ognition Talent Search; the Nation-
ows Harwell died July 13. Altar flow
ers were given in loving memory of
Mattie Fletcher by Frank Fletcher,
by Richard, Susan, Brittany and
Rickey Bunkley in loving memory
of Marilyn Bunkley, and in loving
memory of Dr. Bill Inman by his
family. A rosebud on the altar hon
ored the birth of Elliott Ross Sligh
and Abigail Mary Sligh, whose proud
parents are Eric and Elaine Sligh.
A rosebud on the altar was given
by Lyle and Betty Certain in honor
of their great-granddaughter, Eliza
beth (Libby) Parker Certain, daugh
ter of Matt and Amy Certain.

Saturday's pro
gram will feature
a mix of classical
and contemporary
works composed by Chopin, de Falla,
Handel, Tournier and others.
Proceeds from the concert will
benefit the Susanna Wesley Guild
of Christ Church and the St. Simons
Civinette Club.
A reception with refreshments
will follow the concert. For a $20.00
donation, tickets can be obtained at
the Christ Church office, or by call
