Permar The road has not been easy for Mack and Alyson Tucker. “I was ready for a divorce. That’s where our relationship was.” Alyson Tucker is frank when she talks about her mar riage, yet it is without rancor or bitterness, because it is a story about the power of faith - genuine faith. “But then,” Alyson contin ues, “Mack found his way back to the church. The commission approved about half of the sign amend ments at a previous meeting, deferring ten of them for fur ther work by City Planner Arne Glaeser and attorney Lynn Frey. The amendment that caused the most controversy and discussion last week was #6, the one dealing with the size of billboard signs. Glaeser’s recommendation was to reduce the maximum size of billboards from 400 to 301 sq. ft. Explaining his reasoning, Glaeser told the commission that large, 600 and 700 sq. ft. billboards were necessary on 1-95 where vehicles travel at 60 and 70 mph. “Out on the interstate, the signs need to be big enough so drivers and passengers can Turn to Page 7 City signs Alyson and Mack Tucker take a break from work on their new, non-denominational 'North Island Church' in The Shops at Demere on St. Simons Island.
