Brunswick Rockin’ Stewbilee returns to Brunswick
The 4th Annual Brunswick Rockin'
Stewbilee will be held at Mary Ross
Waterfront Park and in the streets of
downtown Brunswick on Friday and
Saturday, October 17 and 18.
The festivities begin on Friday eve
ning at 9 p.m. with live entertainment
by KC & the Sunshine Band. The event
continues on Saturday with a Bruns
wick stew tasting contest, a Downtown
Street Fair and several other events.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. for the
Friday celebration which will include a
community costume contest. Groups or
individuals are encouraged to dress-up
in 70s attire and join in the fun. There
is no entry fee to join the costume con
test and the winner will be determined
by crowd approval.
After the costume contest, Mason
Waters and the Groove All Stars will
perform. Several local ‘celebrities’ will
be singing with the band in a live disco
karaoke contest to benefit the United
Way of Coastal Georgia.
The evening will culminate with a
fireworks display over the Brunswick
River.
Food vendors will be available
throughout the night, and adult bev
erages will be available for purchase.
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring
chairs and blankets to the festival,
but no outside coolers or pets will be
allowed.

in' Stewbilee. Last year's event was
great fun and very memorable to the
thousands of families that attended,”

event. We hope everyone will come
and enjoy what promises to be a very
special day in Glynn County.”
"The disco generation has a follow
ing and KC and the Sunshine Band
have a tremendous fan base," Susan
Bates, Rockin' Stewbilee committee
member and chairperson for entertain
ment said. Hit songs of KC and the
Sunshine Band include "Shake Your
Booty," "I’m Your Boogie Man," "Boogie
Shoes" and "That's the Way I like It."
Saturday’s events begin at 9 a.m.
with a 5K Disco race and Hustle and
a Pooch Parade. The Pooch Parade
is a hit with dog owners and their
favorite friend. Prizes are awarded for
the best costumes, and all registration
money for the parade goes to the Glynn
County Animal Services and Humane
Society of Coastal Georgia.
The Brunswick Stew Tasting Con
test begins at 11:30 a.m. with more
than 60 teams competing. Brunswick,
Ga. is proud of its stew and takes

Additional Saturday activities dur
ing the Brunswick Rockin' Stewbilee
include a classic car and motorcycle
show, arts & crafts, the popular, Junior
Stewbie Disco fun zone for kids, and
the Coast Guard will have one of their
vessels available for touring.
"The Brunswick Kiwanis Club is
again excited to work with many other
community groups and businesses to
bring a world-class event to Bruns
wick," said John Goodrich, ofthe Bruns
wick Kiwanis Club, which organizes
the stew tasting contest. “If you have
a Brunswick stew that always receives
praise, then we encourage you to come
to our area and size it up against some
stiff competition.”
The Brunswick Rockin’ Stewbilee
and the Historic Brunswick Business
Association (HBBA) have joined forces
to make this year’s vending bigger and
better. Like in previous years, specialty
vending will go on in Mary Ross Park
for the concert on Friday, October 17
and during the stew tasting festivities
on Saturday, October 18
A new addition to this year's event
is the HBBA’s Annual Street Fair Arts
& Crafts Show, which in the past was
held on a separate date.
Arts and crafts vendors will be lin
ing Gloucester Street across Bay Street
into Mary Ross Park on Oct. 17 and 18.
The Mary Ross Park vending location
will be open from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. on
Friday and 9 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. on Satur
day. The Gloucester Street Fair loca
tion will open from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. on
Friday and 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Saturday
Tickets for KC and the Sunshine
Band are $25 in advance and $30 at
the gate.

ber of Commerce, The Oyster Shak,
all Glynn County locations of Parker's

Tickets are also available in Cam
den County at the Gift Shop at the
Camden Campus of Southeast Georgia
Health System.
Discounted tickets are available for
groups of 20 persons or more and can
be purchased by calling Susan Bates
at 466-7007. Tickets are also available
online at www.ticketmaster.com with
service and delivery fees.
