I love Thanksgiving! It is a day of
gathering around the table with fam
ily and friends to share good food and
memories of good times over the years
and to remind ourselves of how very
blessed we are.
These Thanksgiving thoughts are
borrowed from the Brunswick First
United Methodist Church bulletin - -
PLENTY OF PLENTYS
This Thanksgiving Season we should
be thankful for:
Plenty of food: "Ye shall eat in plen
ty, and be satisfied" Joel 2:26
Plenty of mercy: "The Lord is mer
ciful and gracious, slow to anger, and
plenteous in mercy: Ps 103:8
Plentiful pardon: "Return unto the
Lord... for he will abundantly pardon:
Isa 55:7
Plentiful grace: "And God is able
to make all grace abound toward you;
that ye, always having all sufficiency
in all things, may abound to every good
work" 2 Cor 9:8
Plenty for the future: "Eye hath

In Memorium
Thomas James Northcutt
Thomas James Northcutt, Jr., 57,
died November 8,2008 due to complica
tions of the heart.
One of Jay's most well known proj
ects was the promotion of project "57" or
better known today as The Wiregrass
Trail. He was an avid fisherman and
loved the history that North Georgia
mountains held.
A resident of Ellijay, Georgia, he
worked as an associate broker with
Southern Heritage Land Co. He was an
active member of Ellijay First United
Methodist Church and the Rotary Club
of Gilmer County, and in high standing
with the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Survivors include his son Thomas
J. Northcutt, III and his daughter Iso
line Campbell Northcutt of Atlanta, his
father Thomas James Northcutt, Sr.
of Ft. Lauderdale, his sister Christo-
pha Campbell Northcutt of St. Simons
Island, and two nieces, Jessica Sanders
Nunes and Christen Amanda Bennett.
A memorial service was held Satur
day, November 22 at the Ellijay First
United Methodist Church. □

Holiday Mail for Heroes” to deliver one million
greetings to service members and families
The American Red Cross and Pit
ney Bowes Inc. are teaming up to
send holiday cards to members of
the military and their families in
the United States and around the
world.
From Tuesday, November 11 until
Wednesday, December 10, the public
is invited to send holiday cards with
their message of thanks and cheer to
a special post office box.
The Red Cross and Pitney Bowes
will screen cards for hazardous mate
rials, sort and package the cards,
and deliver them to military bases,
veteran’s hospitals and military hos
pitals during the holidays.
Last year, the effort collected more
than 600,000 cards for wounded ser
vice men and women.
With the expansion of the pro
gram the Red Cross and Pitney
Bowes hope to collect more than one
million cards and holiday greetings.
“Holiday Mail For Heroes” continues
the Red Cross tradition of service to
the armed forces.
The American Red Cross volun
teers will be displaying information
and having supplies available during
the “Celebration of Giving” at the
Glynn Place Mall on Friday, Novem
ber 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

a Holiday Message for our Heroes!

at the local American Red Cross

ber 10. Cards received after this date
will be returned to senders.
To help speed the sorting process
and delivery of cards and notes before
the holidays, mailers are encouraged
to refrain from sending “care pack
ages,” monetary gifts, using glitter
or including any other inserts.
