Mrs. Claus reads to Golden Isles
Elementary students
Perched on top of a bookcase in the school's media center, Mrs.
Santa Claus, portrayed by Golden Isles Elementary Principal Sung Hui
Lewis, reads "The Littlest Snowman" to a group of students. Lewis, who
reads to each grade level at the school, started the tradition last year
by reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas."
"Every story has a message of character building," Lewis said. "I try to
emphasize the true meaning of Christmas and the holiday season,
which is giving from the heart, not the pocketbook." Lewis plans to
make her appearance as Mrs. Claus an annual event because the
students enjoy the story time and it gives her a chance to connect
with the students. "I get plenty of time with the teachers and staff,
but not enough opportunities to be with just the children - and I miss
them!" Lewis said.
