Christmas in the mountains was
a mixture of mostly cold weather but
no snow. It did get cold enough to
freeze the water poured on the Fuce-
tola's driveway for tube sliding but not
too cold to keep Gracie, Drake, Luke,
Avery and Will Riley out of the creek!
Thank goodness for a fireplace to dry
shoes and socks! Emily, Piper and
Galen found better things to do in the
warm house!
We came home Monday by way of
Fayetteville for lunch with Sybil Hipp
who sends greetings to all her Island
friends. Sure wish she was still close
enough for more frequent hugs. We
enjoyed visiting with Mary Frances
Radcliffe also and look forward to more
frequent visits in the coming year.
We join with St. Simons Presby
terian Church in extending sympa

As you read this the New Year will
be a few days old. Writing this column
this week has made me especially
aware that many families in our com
munity are beginning 2009 without
the earthly presence of loved ones.
Because of the birth of that little babe
in a manger who grew into a man who
died on the cross for our sins we who
know Him have the assurance of one
day spending eternity with those loved
ones if they also knew Him as Savior
and Lord. A New Year is filled with
new opportunities to know Him and to
serve Him through the churches of our
community. The doors are open - ready
to SHARE HIS LOVE. □
