lot of work, especially if you put your
heart into it like you need to. I want
to say thank you to my family for
always supporting me on the commis
sion,” said Johnson.
Com. Fendig, agreed with Johnson,
saying, “I have been humbled to work
with this group of commissioners. No,
we didn’t always agree, but we all
always had what was best for Glynn
at heart. It took all seven of us, seven
people, to flesh out the problems
and come up with solutions. Previous
commissions got things started and
this commission took a lot of projects
down the track towards completion.”
Thanking the staff, Fendig said,
“When we came to the staff with
issues and concerns they always tried
to find a way to get the projects done.
I am thankful for the honor of being
able to serve with them.”
Commenting on family, Fendig
said, “I came on the commission as
a single man and go out with the
best benefit of all, my lovely wife and
life partner, who is a former coun
ty employee. Our (commissioners’)
wives have to withstand innumerable
phone calls and people coming up to
us in restaurants and other public
places. They have to endure a lot, so
thank you and let’s have a round of
applause for all our wives.”
Taking his turn last, Com. Keller
said, “I want to take this opportunity
to thank my fellow commissioners
for their vision to move this county
down the road in the way the citizens
deserve. This group’s accomplish
ments are too numerous to mention
completely but include roads, rec
reation, drainage, the Golden Isles
Career Academy and on and on.”
“We worked as a team,” Keller con
tinued, “and no, we didn’t always see
eye to eye, but we always did what
we believed best for the citizens. We
were blessed with a good executive
staff and senior management team
that was highly capable in helping
us translate our vision. And last but
certainly not least, the county also
has an excellent work force that came
to work everyday to make Glynn a
great place.”
