THE ISLANDER, SEPTEMBER 21, 2009, PAGE 11 ‘hfews to 0~Ce(t) Bra exhibit promotes Breast Cancer awareness Showing their "sup port" for breast cancer awareness, members of the Golden Isles Fiber Arts Guild have designed and decorated "Fanciful Bras of the Golden Isles." Guild member Mary Ann Harbaugh- Freeling spearheaded the effort which was inspired by the The Quilters of S.C. Artful Bra project to benefit breast cancer. The 30 plus one of a kind bras will be on exhibit from October 2 through November 3 at Art Downtown/Gallery 209. The themed bras have colorful names that match their color ful decor. Bra names include Boobs and Bees, She Sells Sea- shells, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Two Blue Boobies, Boob-ilicious, First Responders, Eve's Apples, and The Zebra. The bras, created to increase breast cancer awareness during the month of October, will be auctioned off Tues day, October 27 at a tea and cocktail recep tion at Art Downtown. Everyone can vote all month long for their favorite bra by pur chasing a ballot for $1. All monies collected will benefit the new Southeast Georgia Health System's Breast Care Center scheduled to open Monday, Octo ber 5.
