CCGA breaks ground for
Student Housing and Campus Center
Just nine months after breaking
ground for the $15.8 million dollar
Health and Science Building project,
the College of Coastal Georgia broke
ground Saturday, May 8 on the Stu
dent Housing and Campus Center.

semi-suite layout, approximately 160
units in the four-single-bedroom suite

The College of Coastal Georgia
Strategic Master Plan (completed
May 2009) established a 2010 base
line enrollment goal of 3,000 students.
The 2009 fall semester enrollment
has already exceeded that number. To

As the newest sites for construction,
the Student Housing project will pro
vide 352 beds and be ready July 2011
for students attending the College that
August. This will be the introduction
of housing on the College campus. The
initial intent is to provide approximate-
meet the next enrollment projection of
4,000 students by 2015, the construc
tion of 600 on-campus housing units is
required.
In addition to on-campus housing,
the Campus Center of approximately
50,000 square feet will also open in
July 2011. The project consists of a

New CASAs sworn
On Tuesday, May 11, eleven new
Court Appointed Special Advocates
(CASAs) including the new CASA
executive director, were sworn in by
Judge George Rountree in the Juve
nile Courtroom in Glynn County's
Office Park building.
New CASA volunteers include:
Nichole Anderson is the Associ
ate Director of Urban Ministries at
The Gathering Place. Niki’s interests
include reading, working out, and
working with youth. In working with
youth Niki has seen the positive impact
that CASA has had on children in
Glynn County and she wants to be a
part of it.
Brooke Baxter recently graduated
with a degree in child and family devel
opment from Georgia Southern. Her
interests include working with chil
dren, biking, and going to the beach.
Brooke will not only be a CASA but
dining and food service, bookstore/cof
fee shop, health center, student gather
ing spaces and a theater.
On the heels of the one year anniver
sary of the College’s Strategic Master
Plan, these new sites for construction
will continue the transformation of the
College of Coastal Georgia.

Amy Bramlett is a wife and mother
and is currently a realtor with Signa
ture Properties. She previously served
as the Director of Admissions at Morn-
ingstar Youth Estate for three years.
Amy misses her work with children
and feels, as a CASA, she can make a
difference in their lives.
Buffy Dixon is a wife and mother
who has spent many years in law
enforcement and was employed with
the security department at SGMRC.
She enjoys riding motorcycles, camp
ing, and spending time with her family.
Duffy’s desire to help others brought
her to CASA.
Rebecca Dixon has been a stay at
home mom for 15 years and feels like
it is her time to do something different.
She has a desire to help other children
by volunteering her time. She enjoys
making hair bows and reading.
Cindy Gilbert comes to CASA from
the Atlanta area. She is a retired school
counselor, the mother of three chil
dren and an excellent tennis player.
Cindy made a career of advocating
for children by working individually
with them and their families. Now in
her retirement, she continues to make
a positive difference by becoming a
CASA volunteer.
Susan Gwozdz is an IT program
manager with the Naval Criminal
Investigative Service at FLETC. She
is married, the mother of one, a very
proud grandmother, and mama to two
