Reyna seeks Glynn County
Commission District 4 Seat
Reba Sloan Reyna has announced
she will run for the Glynn County
Commission District 4 seat currently
held by Howard Lynn.
A life long resident of Glynn Coun
ty, Ms. Reyna has been a business and
property owner in Glynn County for
most of her adult life.
"Because I
have owned and
managed my
own businesses,
I understand
how important
business is to
Glynn County,"
she said.
"I am very pro
growth for Glynn
County. This
area has so much
to offer business
es and families,"
Reyna said. "We
have a growing,
educated work
force thanks to
the Golden Isles
Career Academy
and the College
of Coastal Georgia, now a four year
school."
"We need solid business to locate
to Glynn so our graduates won't have
to leave the area to find good jobs. We
need to help those graduates by bring
ing in viable businesses."
Reyna's business experience has
provided her with insight into budget
ing and spending. "I am a fiscal con
servative and I plan to look after the
taxpayers' dollars," she said.
On the jail issue Reyna said, "It
isn't what I want done (with the jail)
but what the people of District 4 want
done."
"Most of the people in District 4 I
have spoken with want the entire jail
moved from downtown," she said.
"I am doing due diligence on the
jail as well as several other issues,"
she said. "I would be willing to see the
jail moved to a feasible location, such
as the county-owned property adja
cent to the Public
Safety Complex, as
long as it has water
and sewer."
"But the jail
issue may be set
tled by the time
the new commis
sioner takes office
in January 2011,"
she said.
Other issues
she is concerned
about are water
and sewer and the
county's drainage
problems. "I know
the county is work
ing hard to solve
our drainage prob
lems, and I want to
see that continue,"
she said.
Reyna was educated in Glynn Coun
ty and graduated from Bible Baptist
Institute with an associate's degree.
She is a member of the Rock of
Ages Prison Ministry and ministers
monthly to women in prison both
locally and out of town. She has been
participating in prison ministry for
10 years. She is also a member of the
Federation of Republican Women.
She and her husband Warren have
been married for 52 years and have
three children, 10 grandchildren and
one great-grandchild. They are mem
bers of Bible Baptist Church. □
