First Friday Doin’s
Hatties Books will host children's
author Jane R. Wood from 5 p.m. u ntil
8 p.m.,
Wood is a juvenile fiction author
who captures the imagination of young
readers ages 9-14 through stories rich
with mystery, adventure, and humor.
Ghosts, pirates
and tales of the
South make history
come alive for the
Johnson family in
Ghosts on the Coast
as the Johnson kids
explore Savannah,
Charleston and
Pawleys Island,
South Carolina on
their summer vaca
tion.
Trouble on the
St. Johns River is
the third in Wood's
series ofjuvenile fic
tion books. Her first
two books, Voices
in St. Augustine
(2004) and Adven
tures on Amelia
Island: A Pirate,
A Princess, and
Buried Treasure
(2007) also feature
the Johnson fam
ily with three kids
— two boys, ages
nine and thirteen,
and a five-year-old little sister. While
her first two books infuse local history
into stories of mystery and adventure,
Wood’s third book has an environmen
tal theme.
Two of the Johnson boys, Joey and
Bobby, set out to start their summer
vacation by going fishing in a favorite
pond, but end up leading a crusade to
clean up the environment instead.
Wood's books will be available for
sale and signature.
Don't miss dinner on the deck at
Indigo Coastal Shanty. I don't know
how she does it but Kate's always in
the kitch
en cook
ing up
something
fabulous.
I recom
mend the
entire
menu but
am torn
between
my two
latest
favorites
- the fried
green
tomato
sandwich
(the bacon
is per
fect) and
the fish
tostado.
Just take
the whole
family, try
it all and
share!
Peggy
is always
'cooking' up something tasty at Ned
Cash Jewelers. She usually pairs
something homemade with "He said,
she said" beer/wine.
Also Father's Day is around the
comer. Just a reminder Tissot watches
are 50 percent off at Ned Cash.
