A Card Os Thanks
And Explanation.
Flowery Branch Ga.
Language is inadequate to ex
press niv gratitude for those who
so loyally supported me in my race
f,r Judge, and for those who saw
fit’to v<fte against me. I have
nothing but a hart to offer them
-inning over with friend ship, I
do not feel like T was Teaten ‘ but
think the election would have been
different if I could have been at
home and assisted personally in
my campaign.
But this I could not do as I was
at that time in charge of the school
nt this place,by contract and could
not afford to break faith with other
teachers patrons and pupils.
When I consented to make the
race for Judge of the City court of
Colquitt, f arranged with a com
petent teacher to take my place
here for three weeks, but be failed
to come, this being the case 1 feel
like i* was my duty as a man to
comp’ete my contract here with
my best wish-s for die people of
Miller County,
J. R. Williams.
A Bard.
I wish to extend to the people of
Milk r County my thanksand ap
preciation for their support in my
past campaign which en led in my
r -elect'on', and 1 promise to do in
the future’as I have in the past.
“Do my duty to the best of my
ability.’’
Thanking you again for the
honor bestowed upon me, lam.
Yours truly,

To Extermin-
ate Rats.
If you are troubled with rats, try
the following, says Pictorial Re
view: Put on a board or shingle a
little mound of dry lye—about a.
tablespoonfuk Mix enough mo
lasses with the lye to moisten it;
then pi ur just a little more over
the top Rats love molasses an 1
will eat the lye unknowingly and
scurry away for a drink of water.
After drinking the water they die
instantly. You need have no fear
of tlnir dying in the walls.
This was tried by a.farmer. He
put the boards with the lye and
molasses under the corn-house and
the next morning found twenty
dea l rats lying in the yard and
down by ti e watering trough where
they bad gone for water.
