The Disaster
Os The Titanic.
One Sunday night at 10 25
Six hundred miles from shore
The great Titanic was sailing
along
And met an awful foe.
An iceberg came floating along
Across the Titanic s path
And met the largest vessel on
earth
And fai'ed to let it pass.
The iceberg sulled aud would
not move
Ihe vessel taking all of the
blow
They knew at once that some
thing was wrong
And they all hastened down
below.
The Capt. discovered the vessel
was ruined
He gave ihe signal at once
And sent a wireless telegram
For help to come at once
The crew all pumped with all
the force
Tnat human hands could give
While others were praying with
all their faith
That God would let them live
The nearest vessel was 170 miles
So it threw on all of its speed
And hastened to the sinking
ship
For it knew its help they’d
need.
The Titanic was sinking very
slow
But it needed the othq
->o’die people all hoped
their hope
Soon it would sink in a watery
grave.
And then they lowered the life
boats down
And began to crowd on them
The women and chi’dren were
pushed aside
To make room for the men.
The Ci pt. came out on the decK
With revolvers in bis bands
Says men this is a time of self
sacrifice
So show your courageous band.
And they heard above the yelk
The goo 1 old capt shout
If any man dares go aboard
th» se boats
I’ll shoot him on the spot.
There was a silance in ths crowd
When this sad story they
heard
Lite boats are short and of all
this crowd
Can be saved just only one
third.
There were mothers, fathers,
sweet-hearts true
And husbands, wives and
friends
Who shared tbis terrible Titan
ic’s fate
And fainted at the end.
The vessel set sail one year ago
Across the At’antic’s foam
It bore this word(unsiukable)
But God has taKen it home.
Now friends who survive those )
noble men
Who fi'led their watery graves
Aak God to gently guide you o er
That you may meet the brave.
