Reception
In the court house Monday eve
ning an assemblage, not ha large
as it should have been, was in
tensely interested in the rendition
of a program arranged by the P -
T. A. for extending a welcome to
ne teachers, who took chorge of
their respective classes in the Col
quitt School Monday morning.
The meeting was called to order
by the president, Mrs. M . C. Dan
cer, whose ability in making af
fairs of this nature a success, is
readily acknowledged.
The mayor, Dr. E. B. Baughn,
in well chosep remarks, welcomed
the teachers to the town, giving
expression to the high ideals bi
those truly educatid. especially
stressing the import -nee of teach
ing the truth.
In behalf of tue churches, Ke'/
R. F. Dennis clothed his welcome
address in beautiful language.
Next came" Superintendent ol
Schools N. L. Stapleton, whose as
surance to the teachers that he
could be depended upon for stand
ing behind them in efforts for the
upbuilding of the Colquitt School,
wag, appreciated. CM., SfApWtou
has done more (nah anyone in
keeping Colquitt's school on the
accredited list; and for this many
pupils and their parents should be
grateful.
State Senator W. C. Hays, just
home from the Stete House, rep
resenting the great stale, whoue
history proclaims Wisdom, Justice
and Moderation, welcomed the in
structure, recalling legislation
which would've ber.etitted the
schools of the Empire S.ate of the
South bad the bills passed.

to offer congratulations in behalf
of the Board of Trustees upon the
selection of teachers for the ensu
ing year
.Mrs Nellie Cook extended a
welcome framed in beautiful words
to those who will guide the d-sti
nies of so many lives during the
term of 1925-26. She represented
the P—T. A., and organization
which is a credit to the schools
here and to the town.
Supt. W. Homer Drake respond
ed in behalf of the faculty, invit
ing the patrons to visit the school
often, thereby manihsting parent
al interest in their children.
Mrs. P. E. Wilkin, -n her hap
piest mood, gave a reading so true
to life that her audience was con
vulsed with laughter. She has
love expression since girlhood;
and her selection rendered Mon
day evening added new laurels to
the wreath which adorns her brow.
