Residence Burns
Sunday night the 27 inst. about
midnight the homo of Mr, M. D.
•Jones with its furnishings was
destroyed by fire.
The alarm was given but many
were disinclined to respond to the
signals of distress on account of
the fieezing weather and many
others with residences tightly
closed failed to hear the midnight
alarms.
Nothing was saved, The struc

A. M. :u the Wesley Memorial
Hospital, Mr. T. C. Nowell of this
city passed away.
He had been suffering for
mouths, ftobably two or three
years. Some of these months
were spout in hospitals. He fail
ed to grow better so he left here
the Bth inst. On the 23rd at 2P.
M. a kidney, around which was an
enlargement of pus, was removed.
’ After the operation he revived and
t ta.ked (hat uigbt to his son, but
J about fifteen aud a half hours after
the operation, bis spirit was claim
ed by death.
If the deceased bad lived till
Dec 2filb, he would have been
fifty-six years of age. His liody
was interred on that day.
