Miller County Liberal NO 39 Woodruff For Public Service (Railroad) Commission Etortfon of H. B. Adams, prominent ■citizen of DeKalb county, as chair man of a committee of DeKalb county citizens to wage an active campaign ila behalf of the election of Albert J. 'Woodruff, of that county, to one of the positions on the state public serv ice commission was announced Wed mesday. It was stated the committee will take the position that since a South (Georgia man will be elected to the other position on the state public serv ice commission and that since there ds one commissioner now on that body ffrora South Georgia and a third mem ber of the commission is from a seo tion considered South Georgia terri (tory, it would be unfair to the rest >ot the state to elect to the fourth ■place on the commission a South aleorgta candidate, there being but five members on the commission. They point out further that if Mr. Wood ruff is not elected, three members of the commission will come from vir tually the same community. This situ ation, they state, would be contrary ito the best interests of the state as <a whole; The committee alsrt points ont that since Mr. Woodruff is unopposed for (the short term on the commission It ■would be manifestly unfair to him to have to leave the office just at a time Children Tak- ing Treatment Last week Tax Collector G. G Carter found bis young bird dog acting strangely. The canine seem ed to be sn.ffering.from a lit. The officer fearing that he might bite bite one or more of hie four child drenehot the animal’s head almost off with hie shot-gun. After the dog was dead the offi cer found that some of the child ren bad already been elightly scratched or bitten by the dog, eo as a precaution against hydropho bia he if having all four of the treatment. If he had not torn the doge head up eo badly he could have eent it to Atlanta where it could have been fully determined wheather or not ha had hydrophobia. - 9- Electric Current , - • Beginning Monday the electric current was turned on at the plant at one o’clock p. m., and remained on until five o'clock a. m. the next morning. The Rules Followed By A Great Man Below we publish iu the short lest furui the principals ■ .act forth by Victor Hugo, the French author whose book, Les Miserables, was adjudged the best one written during the last centu ry- Here they are as summarized one of earth's nobleman: Since it is given to no one what soever to escape the dream, let us accept it. Only let us try to have the right one. Men hate, are brutes, fight, lie; leave their dream unto the shad- I OWO. But sham you your bread with little children, see that no one goes about you with naked feet, look kindly upon mothers nursing their children on the door steps of bum ble cottages, walk through the world without malevolence, do not knowingly crush the humblest 1 (lower, respect the needs of birds, 1 bow to the purple from afar and 1 to the poor at close range.
