Watson was hostess Monday evening at a lawn party . complimenting her charming vis itors, Mrs. Effie Mobley, of Short erville, Ala., and Mrs. L. M. liny, of Ft. Gaine. Two readings, one by Mrs. P. E Wilkin, and the other by Mrs. P, Z Geer, were pleasing features. Mrs. Fiveash is a sister of Mrs. Drake. Rev. W. A. McDonald returued Tuesday from a delightful stay in Winterville, N. C., as the guest of Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Woodard, the latter his youngest daughter. He was gone from bis old home for five weeks. His health improved, and it would be impossible to tell just how much pleasure came to j him; but be was glad to get back ,to his homestead out on the Blake ly road. His eon, Mr. T. P. He returned Sunday evening but his wife will remain for a few days with her parents. Air. and Mrs. Earnest Grote, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs, C. E. Brooks for several days, left Sunday for Miami, Fla, Miss Evelyn Hubbard of Bluf ton is visiting Alias Mary Lois Cowart. The many friends of Mr Harry Stein here, will regret to learn that his brother, Air Sam Stein, a well known merchant of Blakely, is dangerously ill. Mr and Airs Har ry Stein have been constantly at the home of the patient for the past week. They were accompani ed on their trip to Blakely' Mon day by Dr Buigbn and Rev. Man ghum. Mr Hoke Bush of Homestead, Fla is here visiting at the home of his parents, Mr and Mrs W. J. Bush. Airs B. R. Collins who has been here for several weeks at the homo of her Hattie. Alias Mildred Foster, of Ft. Gaines, is visiting Miss Nelle Wil kin this week. Air. and Mrs, Henry R. Lane and their little daughter, Doris,of Clearwater, Fla., left for their , home today, after a pleasant visit al the boyhood home, near Twilight School, of the former. Air. Lane holds ajnosition in a bank in the Florida town; and one of his older brothers, Mr. John B. Laue, and ■ his family, live also at Clearwater. Mrs. E. A. Lane, the esteemed mother, and two of her daughters, Aliases Fannie and Nancy, still live at the old homestead west of town, and they are always glad to have the former inmates "at home again.” Misses Nancy and Fannie Lane were in town today. Aliases Nan cy aod Noelle Lane recently re turned from the G. S.C. W., where > they attended the summer school. Mr. snd Mrs. J. Al. Fudge, ac companied by her two sisters, Airs. F. C. Bell and Alias Grace Dancer, and by Missis Muriel Watson and Laverne Geer, visited relatives in Tallahassee, Fla., Sunday. In the death of Mr. King the parents have been called on to give up two grown sons, they having lost one doing service during the World War. The body was interred Saturday ing the Roberts Cemetery, not far from the home of Rev. W. A. Samm : e Phillips fell from a tig tree in the yard at the home of his cousin, Mrs. C, H. KimbreL The bones in the lad’s right arm were broken just above the wrist. Young Mr. Phillips has been among the high school students 1 ■attending the summer school here, Hie ambition and persverance in the attainment of knowledge, coupled with an admirable dispo sition, are among the character, istics which easily make him an inspiration to his fellow students. Mr. Willis Mock passed away it. the sanitarium at DonalsonviM Wedngpday. The dsceased was first stricken with pneumonia, his life being frequently despaired of, but la‘er he seemed to grow better. Then pus formed on one of bis lungs. He was desperately ill. Physi cians ordered that this be drawn from the irritated lung; but the operation proved unsuccessful and the intease sufferings were relieved by the angel of death. Mr. Mock lived in the Hand community; and was esteemed as a good citizsn. He is survived by his faithful wife, one daughter, two eons and two brothers. His body was interred at the Union Cemetery Thursday; the funeral services being conducted by his pastor,-Rev. 0. C. Cato, ii the presence of a large crowd of relatives and friends. R, Jor dan, seventy-six years of age passed away in Slocum, Ala., a the home of hie eldest daughter, Mrs. Foster. The deceased formerly lived here, making bis home with bi son, Mr. J. T. Jordan; and thos< who knew bim admired his rug ged honesty. He is survived by two sons and three daughters. His remains were interred Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Jordan are resting over here today with rel atives on the way back to their home in Wauchula, Fla., after attending the funeral services.
