L & L GIRLS HAVE EASY VICTORY Miss Josephine Clarke, of Tokio, Japan, has been at Bessie TifTsinee the beginning of the first semester. Mias Clarke is the daughter of Mr.- and Mrs. Harvey Clarke, whose work has proved such a benediction to the people of that section of Japan. UNIVERSITY QUINTET TOO ! SLOW FOR NORMAN FIVE. Miss Kathleen Morris, of Atlanta, received- her B. M. degree at Bessie Tift in 1913. The' next year she took ii post-graduate course in piano. In 1914 she studied at the Cincin nati Conservatory of music. The follow ing year she iVaa a pupil of Frank La- Forge. During' the kime she taught piano at Bessie Tift College she acted, as ac companist to those who came to give voice recitol*. When a very distin guished singer was being congratulated upon her' work, she turned to Mias Morris and sat'h “dive her half the credit. I have never had a'better ar- eom]>anist. ”• After teaching several years at Bes sie Tift, Miss Morris accepted a posi tion at Simmons College in Texas. Dur ing the war she went to France to assist in entertainment work for the soldiers. The student body and teachets are delighted to have two notable addi. tions to the student body. About 18 yfears ago Dr. T. W. Ayers, who was superintendent of the Sunday school in Anniston, Ala., offered his services to the Foreign Mission Board to go as a medical missionary' to China. In spite of thfc fact that he had eight children at the time, he was accepted. Results have more than justified the action- of the board. One by one these children have returned to America. Miss Lucy Ayers married Mr. Pittman, who ment to China to loan us two bits Wm. G. McRae who espoused the cause of Tom Watson on the f loor of the State Demoeraitir convention in this city, seconding Tom Watson’s nomination yesterday brought suit for ♦ 100,000 against the Telegraph. McRae is a law sfmHent at Mereer and he is represented in the filing of the suit by Wm. 8. Coburn, of Atlanta. He says he lias been humibUed by an editorial uppearing in the Telegraph in W’hirh -statement was made that a poem- injected into his speech was not original and appears in a secret order ritual.
