"I realize the seriousness and
ri sponsibility of the Senate seat

ti ils the duty of Qprm Represents-

BILL NAYLOR
CAROL ANN WRIGHT
Carol Anne Wright, sophomore
from New Smyrna Beach, Florida
it seeking election on April 19th as
dorm representative to the Senate
of SGA. Carol served as Sophomore
and Junior Class President, SGA
representative, and one of Florida’s
three delegates to the National
Yr.uthpower Congress in Chicago
while in high school. She was also
an honor graduate.
While at Mercer, Carol has serv
ed as representative to Women’s
Student Government and is pres
ently Chairman of the WSGA
handbook revision committee. She
served as Social Chairman of Alpha
Gamma Delta and was recently
elected Rush Chairman. She is now
serving as a member of the Stu
dent Appropriations Committee.
Carol says that if she is elected
she would suggest to the SGA a
program to help unify the student
body. She would hope to see the
SGA sponsor more campus-wide
activities such as receptions and
perhaps a street dance. She also
would ask that a campus carnival
be considered as an activity to be
s|>onsored by the SGA and includ
ing everyone on campus. This
would be set up to give unaffiliates,
independents, and Greeks a chance
to participate in a joint project.
Another idea that might help in
giving the student body a point of
unity is a ’’Sports Support” com
mittee which would strive to en
ct urage students tc. support athletic
•divides. This committee might be
■l ie to arrange car caravans to
•' ay games. All these things would
hi Id in creating a better “MER-
C OR spirit”. Carol Wright seeks
y< ur support on April 19th. If
el -cted, she will do everything
P ssible to prove deserving of the
la th a vote expresses.

of the students to govern them
selves. I feel qualified to seek
office because I have an interest
in student government, especially
the arer of Student Appropriations;
and I have held several |x>sitions
of leadership before. I am familiar
with the duty of the committee cf

reading the description of its duties
in the Student Government Con
stitution and by talking with pres
ent members of this committee con
cerning their duties.
At the present time I serve as
First Vice President of Women’s
Student Government, Second Vice

reorganization of most of the club.
Greek, and activity sections.
Clutter Editor:
TOM LANG
This is not a total acceptance
of editorship, but merely an
acknowledgement of the office. As
most will note, I am unopposed in
running for this office, so 1 can
safely assume victory.
My mission will not be one of
stepping into a firm dynasty, in
stead, I must step softly because
I’m stepping on the deck of a
floundering ship, one that could
sink into a serene sea of apathy
Yes, that ever present adjective
and noun so characteristic of col
lege students. Tc those of you who
are unaware of the shape of the
Cluster, which I'm sure constitutes
a majority. I would like to have an
expose of sorts to let you know
what is happening to YOUR paper;
after all, a portion of your activities
fee is directed to supporting this
cause
If cne had been noticing the
paper in the duration of this year,
he would have noticed that we
have run through two editors, and
a vast number of associate editors,
as well as having the staff dwindle
to only three actually writing up
the news. That's what I call hurt-
int!
IERCER CLUSTER • 3
I am in no position to accept
full responsibility or the paper nt
present and am even hesitant in
accepting if for next year, due tc
the floundering condition, but it is
no fault of the present staff, but
goes back to the editors of the re
cent past, who let the organization
of the staff bo too free. Each
editor of the past two years has had
an almost singlehanded effort to
put out a paper, but I am going
to break with tradition, and leave
the quality up to the student body's
participation. Just because I am
editor to-be. doesn't necessarily
mean that I nm solely re3|ronsihle
for the production of the paper
I m not trying to lessen my obli
gation. but rath-'r to induce action
tn the part of the students.
