"How can you »ee a tea hag in that?” Such was the conversation heard as I walked by Room 31fi in the Student Center. My curiosity was aroused to such a point that I de cided, to investigate, whereupon I was attacked with a barrage of in flated images and light switch plates in soft sculptured vinyl, mammoth-size glasses, and a six foot long post card folder of New York City I Everyone sees different things | in Modem Art, some don't see any I thing at all One comment from a i student us she rolled hysterically on the floor, "we really shouldn't lie laughing at this '' Some of the more intellectual students would attempt to decide what could motivate the ros|iective artist of each exhibit Sometimes the actual obje<1 in the exhibit was indistinguishable, and when one observer declared an artichoke half as her answer to one of the riddles, another passerby questioned, "How do you know 7 " "I eat artichokes all the time and love 'em " (hie observer described his senti ments for the room by saying, "I'd hate to try to study in here," which we'd like to think means he was afraid he would be grabbed and ( even eaten perhrfps.
