SOCIALLY SPEAKING
Homecoming is over until next
year and everyone is beginning his
yearly trek to the mountains—
Highlands, N.C., a recent favorite
with thp Kappa Sigs, and Gatlin-
berg, an old favorite with every
body. In fact, it has been rumored
that the Mayor of Gatlinberg is
coming to Macon to personally
present the Sigma Nu’s with the
key to the city in recognition of
their contribution to the city’s
tourism. And as to the other news
and rumors . . .
PHI MU
The Phi Mus are very proud of
, Dori Ripley and Karen Rivers for
making the Dean’s List last quar
ter.
Gary Brenner, the Phi Mu-spon-
sered candidate, was elected as
Toby during Homecoming festivi
ties and Susan Strange was elected
Tot. Congratulations on two years
in a row.
Claire Bowen is sporting a huge
diamond on her left hand since
she and Avery Beall, SAE, became
engaged last weekend. Also Susie
Overstreet is now pinned to
Tommy Rhodes <T.R ), an ATO.
The faculty was given a tea last
Monday by the Phi Mus. Entertain
ment was provided by the wash
board band.
ALPHA DELTA PI
The ADPis were very astonished
but pleased when they won third
place for their Homecoming display.
Thanks go to Dianne Camp for
supervising the construction of the
display this year, and a special
thanks to Steve Moody for his
clever little contribution.
The ADPI basketball team is
shaping up under the direction of
coaches Van Hale and John Gif
ford Also it seems that Marde
Furbee and Karen Lanigan have
been making it to all the practices.

ASSOCIATION
MICA is proud to welcome four
of her fall quarter pledges Into her
sisterhood, Charlotte Morrison,
Joyce Eady, Deloris Sadler, and
Juanita Pipkin. These girls were
initiated Tuesday, January 21.
As a climax to their solemn and
serious Initiation, the new sisters
along with pledges Marty Rainey,
Linda Kay, Kay Collins, and Liz
Huey sabotaged the MICA hall with
shaving cream and a little disrup
tion of the natural order in some
rooms. Then in retaliation, several
sisters led by Paulette Jeans caus
ed a little disturbance in several
rooms in the Freshman Dorm. In
cidentally, UA Linda Morgan is
known to have helped both groups.

Sigma Tau Gamma held Its in
itiation for those freshmen women
who made Dean’s List fall quarter
Monday, January 20. The eight
freshmen receiving this honor were
Paula Rose, Neel Aldred, Angie
Hayes, Pat Barnwell, Linda Orr,
Phyllis Smith, Glenda Tulley, and
Nancy Raines.
These girls will receive further
recognition on Honors Day spring
quarter and are to be congratulated
for achieving one of the highest
honors a freshmen Mercer co-ed
can receive. Sigma Tau Gamma Is
