Curriculum Committee
makes recommendations
Mercet University, Macon, Georgia, October-30, 1971
Cauldron
This year tht 1972
CAULDRON staff is en
deavoring to create a com
pletely new yearbook-one
which really hits the year of
each individual. To accomplish
such a feat, we are going to need
your suggestions and
cooperation. Please do not
hesitate to approach the staff
concerning attempts to literally
capture your actions and
reactions to life.
The- classes sections have
never seemed expressive as
they look like so many mug
shots from prison. Hoping to
avoid this portrait line-up ef
fect, we are going to change the
layout and picture composition
to. try and capture personalities
Therefore, we offer you three
choices for your individual
photo:
t-A regular portrait done
through our studio
photographer-Joe DeCrandis-
who has done this in the past, or
2- Personally submitting the
photo of your own which you
feel captures you best (if this is
your choice, please subnet a
quality photograph), or
3- Arranging an informal
photo through our head
photographer-John Lowery-
using whatever props or dress
that you choose. (Note: there
will be no charge for tills per
social photo.)
Usually when school pictures
are returned, everyone
grumbles because the camera
has been unable to capture you
on film. This is your chance to
be represented in your book in
whatever your natural state
may be. If you want a full'length
shot or wish someone to appear
in the picture, with you, that's
fine with us.
The portrait photographer
will be on campus in early
November and sittings will be
on a first come bAsis. If you
choose to submit your owh
photograph this must be done
no later than December 13. For
a personal shot by appointment
contact John Lowery at P.O.
Box 43 no later than November
15 for arrangements. f
IMPORTANT: The form
must be completed and
returned to the CAULDRON
P.O. Box 43 indicating your
choifce by November 2.
Otherwise, we will assume that
you do not desire your
photograph to appear in the 1972
book.
This process is going to
require your full co-operation
With that cooperation we will be
able to make the 1972 book the
best ever.
THANKS,
Barrie Wilkie
John Lowery

Despite- its subject, “Luther”
is not regarded as a religious
play to attract or repel one
denomination or another, but as
a drama of great emotional
power. New York critics gave ii
their annual Critics Circie
Award as the best play of the
1963-1964 season.
Though Martift Luther
himself provoked fitter con
troversy, audiedces at its
original New Yortrand London
presentations accepted the play
enthusiastically. Viewers of all
faiths regarded it not as
religious histo. y, nor even as a
biography, but as a sweeping
drama of size and power about
the most profound human
feelings.
Directed by Mr. Drexel H.
Riley, the Players will present
highlights from the play with a
minimum of props and
costumes. The performance
will be followed by discussion in
which the cast will take part.
Two days later, Father
William Coleman, pastor of St.
Joseph Church, will speak on
“Renewing the Church” at the
Mercer Worship Service.
The Catholic Church around
the world has been undergoing a
new Reformation internally,
with sweeping and^often con
troversial changes taking place.
Father Coleman will put into
perspective the forces and ideas
that affect modem man and his
institutions. Many of them
affected Luther too. .
