By Charles Thomas
About 70 students who had
work-study jobs with / Special
Services loot them on March 31,
after receiving notices from Mr.
Samuel Hart, director of special
services.
Due to lack of funds,
cut-backs were made on those
students working in schools,
community centers, and those
who served as community
tutors. The pre-school workers
and campus special services
tutors remain employed.
Most* students had earned
their work awards or were close
to doing so. If not. arrange
ments to complete them may be
obtained by seeing Mr Arthur, -
Christie, director of financial
aid. Other jobs are available on
campus. The cafeteria recently

Ware Music Hall.
According to Dr. Carr some
of Carson McCullers* fondest
memories of the South were of
her visits to her cousin, Jordan
Massee, and Paul Bigelow at
566Vi Mulberry Street.
Although the McCullers es
tate never gave its sanction to
the biography, preferring that
tbe official biography be written
when all the principles were
dead. Dr. Carr encountered no
real difficulties in talking to
those closest to the author.
“This is nof * sugar-coated,
frothy, goody-goody portrayal
of Carson," Dr. Carr said.
“She, I think, would have been
the first to abhor such an
approach. She could be a
wounded sparrow or an iron N
butterfly, as it suited her. She
was considered an eccentric
even in New York City. No
wonder people in Columbus
failed to understand her.''
Her first novel. “The Heart Is^.
A Lonely Hunter." embarrass- -
ed Columbus considerably,
while “Reflections In a Golden
Eye" caused consternation at
Ft. Banning. Dr. Carr said.
