There has been considerable

over the past few weeks. Wild

spread fear and mirtnxrt among
the students. Perfple have been

Uatioa has already decided to
do away with our Wednesday
privilege. Some older students
believe that we are only crying
"wolf.” because we speak of
ining Wednesday each year. I
would like the opportunity to set

This past Tuesday morning. I
had the distinct pleasure and
honor of having a private
conversation with Presidant
Rufus Harris. In that meeting,
we discussed many topics of
interest to student*, one of
which was the fata of Wooderful
Wednesday, and how we, the
students. can bast insure its
continued existence on the
Mercer Campus. Pres. Harris
has assured me that there has
of Wooderful Wednesday. As
far as the President ia con
cerned. Wooderful Wednesday
ia a viable institution and be
fully expects it to continue to
serve the community in the
future. The ma
Dr. Harris and the Trustees
have ia that we must not allow
Wednesday to becotfte a rest
after Tuesday night's parties.
Wednesday must be presented
as a day for academic and
cultural pursuits; which when
used correctly, cam add sub
stantially to the total college
educational process.
Because of the peat abuses of
our Wednesday privilege, how
ever. we must constantly be oo
guard against thorn actions
which may be construed as
objectionable to the basic
principals of Wonderful Wed
nesday. Pres. Harris, will, after
Christmas, appoint a committee
of faculty, students, and ad
ministrators to study how
Wonderful Wednesday has
been used. What changes or
improvements need to be made,
and how the program ^an be
better used to benefit theSoul
college program.
Wooderful Wednesday will
continue, but it ia not borne free
yet. Wa must be extremely
careful about how we used
Wednesdays. If we treat this
privilege as something else to
rip-off. then we will have no one
to blame for its demise but
ourselves. Wonderful Wednes
day is yours to use and respect.
Don't you lo— it.
