“Return Of A Man Called Horse
In 1969, Sandy Howard
Production* produced *‘A Mao
Called Horae,** a phenomenally
successful motion picture which
was the first film to treat the
American Indian in minute
detail, picturing his life with
unparalleled accuracy. Set in
Indian territory in 1826, the
story dealt with an ‘English lord.
John Morgan, who became,
first the slave of the Indians and
thou, after enduring the physi
cal and mental torture of an
initiation rite know as the Sun
Vow. their brother. This year
The Return Of A Man Called

sgain starring Richard Harris as
Morgan and focusing on the
Englishman's effort to re
establish the tribe's indepen
dence and faith.

Sondergaard returns to motion

role of the Elk Woman. Miss

The Return Of A Man

Irvin Kerahner and was written
by Jack De Witt, who also wrote
"A Man Called Horse." The
new film was produced by Terry

To achieve the utmost in
realism and local color Howard
took his international cast and
crew to such far-flungiocati^ns
as South Dakota. Mexico and
England. Equally impressive
was the scope of the film..More
than 1,300 buffalo were used for
one hunting sequence which
pieced Harris and the Indians in
the center of the Annual South
Dakota Buffalo Round-Up in
Custer Stale Park. In Mexico,
contraction crewa assembled
an enormous trapper's fort
which figured importantly in the
film's climactic battle sequence.

This is the comedy written by
Shakespeare after he had
achieved his first renown, but
while he was still young and
overflowing with the remem
bered magic of the rustic scenes
of his 9tretford boyhood — the
comedy he set in that amorous
woodland he called the Forest of
Arden.
In effect, it is a picnic, all of a
summer's day. With wit and
incomparably lovely flights of
poetry, the ^flnrd portrayed in
this humorous and serene
comedy s life of people who
have been “banished" from the
busy urgencies of court life and
find existence under the green
boughs and in sunlit si alas of an
enchanted forest to be a
vacation with the opportunity to
tell in love, to sing, to play tha
fool and to philosophize about
the world.
Gay Griggs will portray the
sprightly Rosalind who, in a
boy’s disguise; takes impish
glee in coaching her suitor,
Orlando, in bow to court her.
Terry Beaver will have the role
of this gullible, lovelorn Or
lando. John Stephens will be
seen as the jesting, prancing
Fool. Touchstone; Yvonne Ten
ney (Celia) as Rosalind's
devoted friend; Chris Curran as
the wryly contemplative Jaques
to whom falls the immortal
soliloquy that begins “All the
the world’s a stage." outlining
t^e seven ages of man.

Executive producer Howard
has this to say about his detv
motion picture. “I always fek
there would be a time when we
would continue the story of
John Morgan, the English
aristocrat. Interestingly
enough, it is six ye trs later in
the story that we eturn the
Englishman to Indian territory
in the West and it was a little
over six years since we first
produced ‘A Man Callsd
Horse.’ At the end of that film.
Morgan returned to England,
but that was not the end of the
man. 'I thought we wanted to
know more."
Richard Harris was in total
accord with the concept, knd
admits that for years he was
looking forward to repeating his
folk.
Howard noted. "I wouldn't
have done this film without
Harris. He understands the
character completely and is in
total sympathy with the con
flicts. The film is immensely
enriched by Richard's presence,
strength and sensitivity ' The
film opens Oct. 22 at the
