The Mercer Cleator, January 31,1977 — Page 6
By Cesar A. Borri
Kappa Sig exploded with an effective offense game aa they oat
shot the SAE’s by a score of 49^31, to improve their record to 2-0.
Kappa Sig’s height and outside shooting proved to be a decisive
factor as they hit just about everything in the second half.
The E’s made it look like an exciting game as they kept the
pressure on in the first half and trailed by only 4 points, 22-18 at
intermission.
Unfortunately for the E’s that was the best they could do as
Kappa Sig’s offense exploded in the second half. David Russell had
16 points while Scott Hallam and Ryan Reynolds had 10 points
respectively. For SAE, Ben Valdez had 10 points and Jay Crabtree,
Sigma Nu Beats A TO
By Cesar Borri ,
The Sigma Nu Snakes overcame a slow start in the beginning on
the second half to beat football rivals A TO in what probably was the
best basketball game so far this season by a score of 43-41.
ATO seemed to have the momentum at the start of the second
half when they scored 8 straight points for a seven-point lead, but
the Snakes never gave up and kept pressuring ATO, forcing them
to make turnovers on which they capitalized.
With less than thirty secords to go, freshman Mike Simmons
scored two free throws to give Sigma Nu their first win against one
loss.
Sigma Nu led at the end of the first half 21-18. The high scorers
for the Snakes were: Walls, 18 p's., Bolhofner, 7 pt Simmons, 2
pis. For ATO: Allen, 17 pts., Ritch and Veil©. 8 pts. each.
