Financial Support By Baptists To Ga.
College Explained In “Index”

Georgia Baptist provide financial support for the five colleges and Christian education causes
through the Cooperative Program. The 1977 Georgia Baptist Convention budget appropriates
$1,272,500 for Christian education, including $880,000 II) for operaiingjotpenses of the five Baptist
colleges. An additional allocation of $443,700 (3) is included in the 1977 Cooperative Program budget
through the Capital Improvement and Endowment Program.

possibility of, in the future,
converting the heating and
cooling machinery of one
building to solar energy.
McClellan added, "as college
students, we are looked upon as
the future leaders and as such
we must be the firk to willingly
save resources. We must set an
example for the rest of the
community and the country, by
recognising that the age of
plentiful energy is over and
behaving accordingly. The pur
pose of this committee is to
investigate ways to keep the.
University open and, at the
same time, conserve energy.

IN SUPPORTING BAPTIST COLLEGES
1. Faithfulness to the Commission of Christ requires Involvement in education.
2. Baptist support colleges in an effort to provide for their young people and others of like spirit and
purpose institutions of higher learning with a Christian philosophy, perspective and commitment.
3. Baptists support colleges in the conviction that Christian higher education is essential to providing
adequate leadership for the churches and denomination, and in assisting in the education and training
of community, state and national leaders.
4. Baptists support colleges in the conviction that they are contributing to the welfare of the state and
nation%s the operation of those institutions.
5. Georgia Baptists support colleges through the state convention organisation in order to provide s
brand basis of support, and in order to enlist the largest number of churches and individual Baptists
possible in the support of the institutions.
