Dear Chronicj.e: —Thirty-seven years since, tbe Ist of January 1889, 1 moved from Jackson county Ga., with my wife and seven children. For about seve? years I bad given them a scant support, with a salary of one hundred and fifty dollar*. Through tbe inlerpoaition of a kind old friend, Robert White, who still survives, 1 got a position at ibe Georgia factory, at a salary of two hundred and seventy five dollars, out of which, I saved one hundred and thirty dollars. I was then thirty-nine years old, and 1 had never saved a dollar before. God blessed me, and enabled me to sup port my family, and lay up some i iking for a rainy day. 1 will aay i right here, that tbe friend referred ! to above, in a Uuiversalisl, and I ‘ will further say, that be ia a good * man, and aom« of the most trust* < worthy men 1 know, are Universal, iala. 1 know many of them, while I have bul Hille confidence ia tb flesh, whose word I would believe a* soon a* if I had saw what they lold.
