A called meeting of Council was
held this evening. Present, His
Honor Mayor Hunnicutt, and Ai
dermen Griffith, Dootson, Booth,
McGintv, Barrow and McDowell.
The Mayor stated that the meet
ing had been called at tbe request
of Mr. R. K. Reaves and A. H.
Hodgson, who desired to arrange
some sett lenten* of the question of
building a bridge by the Covington ■
Jr Macon Railroad Company across
the cut on Cemetery street. After
discussing tbe matter, the following
resolution, introduced by Aiderman j
Griffith was adopted:
Beil resolved by the Mayor and
Council of the City of Athens, that
if the Covington A Macon Railroad.
Company so desire, they may, in j
lieu of bridging tbe cut on Cemetery •
street, make the entrance to the
Cemetery as follows:
Said Railroad Company shall di
vert said street at a poiut on Hie
northern side of tbe top of the hill
on said street, to be fixed by tbe
Mavor and Street Committee, and
carry laid street through the 10l
owued by F. W. Lucas, on the west
aide of said street, and on a gradual
itM-liue to the grade crossing ou aaid
railroad bow iu use in approaching
said cemetery; the incline to be of
•uch a nature as to make said street
reasonably safe for travel by all
claaaea of vehicle*; taking al least
fire tort of dirt from the top of the
bill oa Cemetery street, and using *0
much of tbe dirt as may lie necea'
vary to place in aafe and goial con
dition that part of the aireel between
the croasiug and the Cemetery gate;
and at a point on said street to fixed

Street Committee, said Railroad
