A strange true story of en incident in Athens tells of one of those remarkable vines of the tomb that «re found occasion ally in a man’s experience, but which are rare enough lo make the skeptic-il doubt. Yet there are some of the witnesses still living to vouch W>r the truth of the facts as told by a descendant of the family. In the beautiful cemetery at Athens stands an old tomb of a family, once protr inent, not only in the Classic City, but in other cities throughout the State. In it are laid at rest the Ixxlies of several an cestors wbo once played prominent parts in tbe history of Athens anti the State. Death slights no family, though for a time he may pass It by. A few years after the war the door of the hist cold resting place of the family yawned for a while and closed again on the increased dead wbo slept within its dark cold recesses. For some years there were no deaths and tbe silence of the tomb was unbroken, save for the visits of loved ones wbo knelt with out and offered a prayer tor the dead or paid loving tributes to their virtues. At last death cone once more. Tbe good old grand-mother bowed to the will of lime, and dear ones gathered to pay their last respects. The solemn procession wound its slow way to the cemetery. The door of tbe vault moved heavily on its binges as it swung back to receive its dead. Ati Mid of golden sunlight filled 'he tomb dispelling the gloom and revealing a strange Bight There creeping along the walls and over the coffins was a white vine. Pure and pearly it alood iu bold relu-f against the dark back-ground and glistened in the sunlight. But wbat moat aatomsbed those wiio saw it w*s its urti-vbaped windings. There was no mistaking the resemblance. It was ahnoat a perfect urn. But tbe wonder did not (top here. Cu.L ing turtber on it formed a D, the family initial. Astonishment ceased not here.
