There it a great deal of complaint just at present from the cotton mar ket*, a* to the inefficiency of the covering in present use to bold the cotton together in its paasage to the buyer trona the producer. There i* no doubt, also, that the question ia ; one of vast importance to all con cerned. The old jute bagging, in which the cotton ia largely ahipped at present, i* in many case* com pletely rotten, and the cotton arrive* at the world’s market* in a condition which little recommend* it to the putcba*er. The cotton bagging has also l>een found liable to tearage and ; in many case* the cotton shipped in ’ it ba« tx-en subjected to the most i wholesale stealage o* the part of the ! handlers. Il is therefore with eager ness that the farmers and shippers , look forward to some means by which the jute hurt can be boycotted, and at ibd same time cotton can be securely and safely packed. We learn from the Rome Tribune, that W. O. King, of Atlanta, ba* patented a new cotton bale covering. Thi* co«- •istA of paper made of cotton stalk fihra which is covered with a fire proof and water-proof chemical, , nrat the paper is • covering as wire netting, or web wire which bold* th* bole*, instead of tifa The cotloß cm be marked with white ink. and to eaiapia it • pair of nippers can b« used to dip the wire Wli*b th* bale is packed the wire covering I* sickly fastened by twisting the e*d* about a sire rod. This cotton covering, Il is alleged, will not com any more than jute. Il will b* man ' u facta rod by an Atlanta company. It is eeruiin th* public will await with tntorml, th* reauil of experi ment with this saw covering If it peeve* a sues***, it will be the rttoov j al of a groat probhm which bow de mand* BolaUoa. al lh« hands at pro ducer and coaßuaier alike.
