January 17, 2009.
Born in Salisbury, N.C., on
September 16, 1943, he was
the son of the late Joe Webb
and Louise Phillips Moore. He
was preceded in death by a son,
Jeffery Michael Moore.
Survivors include his wife,
Joan Moore, Tiger; sons and
daughters-in-law, Ken and Nokie
Moore, Cornelia, Chris and Lisa

LARGO, FLA. Emily
Oldrid, 94, died Tuesday, January
6, 2009, following a long battle
with COPD.
Born in North Easton, Mass.
On March 16, 1915, she moved
to Bethlehem in 1996. She was a
member of St. Matthew Catholic
Church, Winder, and was a seam
stress. Mrs. Oldrid was preceded
in death by her husband, George
Oldrid; and son-in-law, Rodney
Williams.
Survivors include daugh
ters and son-in-law, Beverly
and Buddy Farinha, Largo, Fla.,
and Susan Williams, Bethlehem;
10 grandchildren; 17 great
grandchildren; and one great-
great-grandchild.
Service will be held Saturday,
January 24 at 10 a.m. at St
Matthew Catholic Church,
Winder, followed by a reception
in Hodges Hall.
There will be a chapel ser
vice July 17, 2009, at 2:30 p.m.,
at Newport Memorial Park,
Newport, R.I. She will be buried
along side her husband follow
ing the service.

Grady and Gertrude Harrison
Adcock. A member of Corinth
Methodist Church, she was a
retired seamstress with Carwood
Manufacturing Company. Mrs.
Parten was preceded in death
by her husband, Emory Gordon
Parten.
Survivors include sons, Larry

"Butch" Parten, Buford; daugh
ters, Shirley Feather, Loganville,
Linda Crowe and Judy Barclay,
both of Bethlehem; 11 grand
children; 20 great-grandchildren;

Lou Bellamy Poole, 84, died
Monday, January 19, 2009, at
BJC Medical Center, following
an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on
January 14, 1925, she was the
daughter of the late Alonzo
Randolph and Myrtie Osborn
Bellamy. She was retired from
Short's Manufacturing and was a
lifetime member of Nail's Creek
Baptist Church. She enjoyed
cooking, gardening, sewing and
was an avid crossword puzzle
worker, loved ones added. Mrs.
Poole was preceded in death by
her husband, John Bruce Poole;
sister, Elise Ward; and brother,
Lloyd Bellamy.
Survivors include a daughter,
Patricia Aaron, Toccoa; sons
and daughters-in-law, Kenneth
Poole, Roger and Alice Pool, all
of Toccoa, Ralph Poole, Atlanta;
Larry and Bernice Poole, Alto;
sisters, Evelyn Frady and Shirley
Merck, both of Gainesville, and
Thelma Williams, Cornelia;
brothers, Ralph Bellamy,
Carnesville, and Harold Bellamy,
Gainesville; six grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren; and
one great-great-grandson; and
numerous nieces and nephews.

88, died Saturday, January 17,
2009.
A native of Barrow County
and former resident of Decatur,
she was the daughter of the
late Charlie and Beulah Bryant
Hughey. She was a retiree of
Emory University Hospital,
where she worked in the busi
ness office and she was Baptist.
Mrs. Price was preceded in death
by her husband, Roy L. Price.
Survivors include chil
dren, Sue Maddox, Auburn,
Nancy Elrod, Gainesville, Gay
Feltman, Atlanta, Larry Price,
Stone Mountain, and Reid Price,
Cleveland; seven grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and a
brother, Arnold Hughey, Tucker.

Wednesday, January 21, at the
Decatur City Cemetery with the
Rev. Jason Webster officiating.

WINDER - Pauline Reynolds,
94, died Wednesday, January 14,
2009, at Winder Health Care,
following an extended illness.
A native of Wilcox County,
she was the daughter of the late
Edmond Greene and Ora Bee
Griffeth Smith. Mrs. Reynolds
was preceded in death by her
husband. Bud Reynolds; daugh
ter, Doris Elaine Williams;
grandson, Jimmy Reynolds;
and great-great-granddaughters,
Mary Grace Chester and Eley
Martin Bramlett. She was a
homemaker and had attended
Winder Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include sons and
daughters-in-law, James and
Frances Reynolds, Kenneth and
Betty Reynolds, all of Winder;
five grandchildren; nine great
grandchildren; and four great-
great-grandchildren.

Thomas Richards
WATKINSVILLE - Thomas
J. Richards, 50, died Tuesday,
January 13, 2009.
A native of Athens, he was
the son of Thomas Edward and
Charlene Ruark Richards of
Athens. He was a graduate of
Clarke Central High School and
earned his bachelor's degree in
biology at Northland College.
He was the fifth great-grandson
of President Thomas Jefferson.
His name appears on the family
tree wall at Monticello and in the
Collective Papers of Monticello.
He was a member of the Audubon
Society Outward Bound, where
he enjoyed nature, was an avid
bike rider, kayaker, and skier,
and enjoyed doing research on
the internet. He was the owner of
Black Goose Chimney Sweep.
Survivors in addition to his
parents are brothers, Dr. Bart
Richards and wife Suzanna,
Jefferson, Randy "Keith"
Richards and wife Kathy,
Orlando, Fla.; nieces and neph

of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s
Witnesses, North Congregation.
Mrs. Riden was preceded in
death by her husband, Hulund
Riden; and a daughter, Angeline
Graham.

Born in DeKalb County, she
was the daughter of the late
Roscoe and Lillie Bruce Burney.
She was Baptist and a homemak
er. Mrs. Shrader was preceded
in death by her husband, Phillip
Bruce Shrader.
Survivors include a daugh

Michael Hart, Dacula, and
Phillip Shrader, Homer; and four
grandchildren.

James Simmons
MADISON - James Simmons,
Jr., 77, died Saturday, January
17, 2009.
A native of Fairmount, he was
a son of the late Mary McCallum
and James Thomas Simmons,
Sr., and was preceded in death
by a brother, Maurice Simmons.
In 1961, he began working
at Athens Seed Company and
continued until
1978, at which
time he became
co-owner.
Until the time of his death, Mr.
Simmons continued to work at
Athens Seed Lawn and Garden
in Watkins ville. He proudly
served his country in the United
States Army.
Survivors include his
wife, Shirley Simmons; chil
dren, Heather Simmons,
Greshamville, James Thomas
Simmons, III and wife, Carol,
Carlton; brother, John Simmons,
Commerce,; sister, Esther Ruth
Simmons, Smyrna; grandson,

Manufacturing Company. Mrs.
Skelton was preceded in death
by her husband, Otis E. Skelton.

cousins, Muriel Guffin and

13, 2009, at his residence.
Born in Prince Edward Island,
Canada, he was the son of the late
Donald Carr Smith Sr. and Helen
Maynard Smith. He was retired
from the clothing manufacturing
business in Farmingham, Mass,
and Athens. He was a veter
an, having served in the United
States Air Force.

Smith, 75, died Thursday,
January 8, 2009, at his resi
dence.
Born in Franklin County on
May 30, 1933, he was the son
of the late Lawrence and Eulala
Cox Smith. He was a 1950 grad
uate of Lavonia
High School,
attended Georgia
Southwestern
College, Atlanta Division, the
University of Georgia, and New
Orleans Baptist Theological
Seminary. He had worked for the
Georgia Secretary of State. He
was an ordained Baptist Minister
and served for over 50 years
pastoring churches in Florida,
Georgia and South Carolina. He
was ordained into the ministry
at the Martin Baptist Church
in 1958, pastored Providence
Baptist Church in Clarkesville,
Tiger Baptist Church, First
Baptist Church of Port St. Lucie,
Fla., Pinehurst Baptist Church,
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church,
Avery, Hunter’s Creek Baptist
Church, Pendergrass Baptist
Church, and retired from Old
Liberty Baptist Church and
Rock Springs Baptist Church.
He served several churches as
interim pastor during his retire
ment, including Cross Roads
Baptist Church, Hunter’s Creek
Baptist Church, and Rock
Springs Baptist Church. He had
been a loyal employee of Ginn
Funeral Home for the past 33
years. He was a veteran, having
served in the United States Army
during the Korean War. He was
a Master Mason and member
of Grove Lodge #652. He was
a member of the Rock Spring
Baptist Church.
Mr. Smith was preceded in
death by a son, Stephen Charles
Smith; and brothers, Howard
Smith, Herschel Smith and
Walter Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 50
years, Betty Burgess Smith; son,
Nathan Smith, Martin; daughters
and son-in-law, Sharon and Kurt
Hansen, Loganville, and Susan
Smith, Martin; grandchildren,
Grace McCurry, Hans and T.J.
Hansen, and Grant Smith; sister
and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth
and Jones South, Martin; and

from an auto accident.

21, 1954, he was
the son of Dora
Belle Hamilton
Sosebee of

Edgar Sosebee. A veteran of the
United States Navy, he contin
ued his career as a maintenance
technician in the manufactur
ing industry. He was a caring
and loving husband, father and
grandfather, loved ones stated.

Sosebee, Lula; daughters. Heather
McDaniel, Thomaston, and
Crystal Story, Lula; sister, Terrie

Sunday school. Mrs. Thomas was
preceded in death by her hus
band, Horace Franklin Thomas;
son. Dr. Marlon Thomas; and
brothers, Grady, Otto, Grover,
Maurice, Artro and Bob Collins.

Born in Edgewood, Ill., he
was the son of the late John R.
and Anne E. Ort Wilson. He was
a United States
Army Veteran
and served in
Germany at
the close of
the Korean War. A member of
Hebron Baptist Church and the
Dove Sunday School Class,
he was retired from Prudential
Insurance Company. Mr. Wilson
was preceded in death by a
brother. Bill Wilson.
Survivors include his wife,
Shelby J. Wilson; brother, Jack
Wilson, Terre Haute, Ind.; sister,
Vivian Boozer, Centralia, Ill.;
daughters and sons-in-law, Julie
and Dennis Becker, Winder, and
Jill and John Overton, Cumming;
granddaughter, Amanda Good,
Winder.

Lawrenceville Chapel with the
Rev. Mac Palmer officiating
