Monday - Orange pineapple juice, beef patty with ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, whole grain wheat hamburger, vanilla pudding and low fat milk. Fitness/movie/popcorn. Tuesday - Italian spaghetti with meat sauce, broccoli cuts, diced carrots, whole grain wheat bread, mixed fruit and low fat milk. Madison Co. Extension Service/ fitness/puzzles. Wednesday - Breaded fish square with tartar sauce, tomato gumbo, yellow com. whole grain wheat hamburger bun. orange and low fat milk. Fitness/puzzles/games. Thursday - Barbecue chicken cutlet, seasoned black-eyed peas with turkey ham, turnip greens and onion, combread muffin, applesauce and low fat milk. ARMC fitness and b/p check/ puzzles/cards. Friday - Breaded pork patty with pork gravy, spinach, seasoned red beans, whole grain wheat bread, holiday dessert and low fat milk. Valentine’s Day celebration/ bingo/refreshments. Law Day essay contest announced The law office of Warren C. County notes Caswell announces that it is once again sponsoring a Law Day Essay Contest for local students. All high school students in Madison, Franklin, Oglethorpe, Elbert. Hart, Jackson and Banks counties are eligible. Entries are due by April 15 and winners will be announced on Law Day. May 1. Full details are available on the Internet at www, warrencaswelllaw.com This year’s topic was selected in honor of the bicentennial anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s birth and asks entrants: “Which of the 13 th , 14 th or 15 th Amendments to the Constitution is the most important and why?" Further, entrants are asked to explain how their selected Amendment affects their life and the lives of those around them every day. First prize is a $500 cash scholarship and second prize is a $200 U.S. Savings Bond. The Annual Law Day Essay Contest is designed to encourage young people to think about the role of law in society and how law affects their everyday lives, even at a young age, the release stated. Caswell has sponsored the contest each year since opening his practice in Madison County. Applications available for forestry pageant Applications are now available for the Miss Forestry Pageant set for Feb. 28 in Danielsville. Girls from all counties in Georgia are invited to enter the local Miss Forestry Pageant. Applications are available at all public schools within Madison and Elbert counties, schools in surrounding counties, and by mail or email to lthompson61 @alltel. net or lwfreeman@windstream.net. The pageant will consist of six age categories, ranging from 2 to 24 years of age. The categories are: Teeny — 2 to 3 years, Tiny — 4 to 6 years, Little — 7 to 9 years. Junior — 10 to 12 years, Teen — 13 to 16 years, and Miss — 17 to 24 years. The pageant will be held at the Jones Chapel United Methodist Family Life Center, located five miles north of Danielsville on Hwy. 29. Group pictures will be made on Feb. 8 at Jones Chapel. Participants may turn in their applications at that time. The deadline for receiving late applications will be Feb. 16. This is a preliminary pageant to the 70th Miss Georgia Forestry Pageant to be held in Tifton in June. The winners from each age division will have their entry fees paid to compete in the Miss Georgia Forestry Pageant and will also receive a $100 savings bond, a professionally embroidered satin banner, a rhinestone tiara, a large trophy and a dozen roses. The Madison County Pilot Club sponsors the local Miss Forestry Pageant.
