For He made Him who blew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righ teousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21) By Rev. Robby Brown I’mjust curious. What fright ens you more about the govern ment “bailout” and "economic stimulus” packages that we keep hearing about? Are you more bothered by unchecked corporate greed? Or are you concerned about more govern ment control over society in general as our tax money is used to support things we may deem unethical behavior and excessive programs? Personally, I believe that God would reward the honest and chastise the greedy in His own way if government lead ers would get out of the way. We put “In God We Trust'’ on our money, but the opinions expressed in the last presiden tial election seem to indicate that we had rather trust govern ment to provide our wants and needs. Both the rich and poor are guilty of this "entitlement complex.” Regardless of your political and economic persuasions, there is one bailout package that we are all in need of, one that only God can pro vide through His only Son. The Bible teaches that we are all spiritually bankrupt the moment we enter this world. We have a sin debt that we inherited from all the way back to Adam. As much as we would like to get out of this mess on our own, the price is still out of our reach. God demands complete righteous ness, and none of us are with out sin (Romans 3:23). So what do we do about that sin debt? God has offered us a bailout package in that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to become sin for us. When we receive this “gift” by faith, God imputes the very righteous ness of Christ to our account. Christ, through His atoning death, paid our sin debt in full! But only through misting in Him can that payment be applied to our account. I sometimes fear govern ment bailouts simply because they give government more control. After all, why would we trust government to take more control? However, God can be trusted completely. Yet, many people will refuse His bailout package of grace sim ply because they do not want to give Jesus Christ control of their lives. Dear friend, I know by experience that God can be trusted with your life. He has done a much better job with mine than I could ever do when I try to take the reigns myself. So, if you haven’t, please receive His gift of life, forgiveness, and righteous ness, and give Him control of your life today. It is a bailout that works!
