MARCH 5. 2009 School News John Deere C 14 FREE TRACTORS. 14 HAPPY PEOPLE. ) MCMS SIXTH GRADERS PARTICIPATE IN HONORS CHORUS Three sixth grade chorus students rep resented Madison County in the Georgia Music Teacher’s Association Sixth Grade Statewide Honor Chorus. The students joined other sixth graders from across the state at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center, February 6-7. Students rehearsed with professional conductors for two days and presented a concert on February 7, which was recorded for Georgia Public Radio. Madison County’s participants were (L-R) Anna Crouse, Autumn Drake and Isabella Citvaras. MCMS chorus teacher, Franleata Blackmon, accompanied the stu dents on the trip. Local 4-H members to perform with Nashville songwriter Local 4-H members, India McElroy and Tyler Robertson, will be on stage with Grammy- winning Nashville songwriter, Hillary Lindsey when she per forms Saturday, March 21, at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in a Clovers & Co. benefit concert. McElroy and Robertson are current members of the 4-H performing group Clovers and Company. The songstress, Lindsey, will share the stage with the Georgia 4-H performing arts troupe to which she belonged for four years. Founded in 1981 as a pro motional tool for Georgia 4-H, Clovers & Co. has produced such national talents as Lindsey and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland. Faithful to her 4-H roots, the small-town girl from Washington, Georgia, contributed three songs to last year’s Clover Country album—a joint venture between National 4-H Council and EMI Music. Among the many popu lar hits written or co-written by Hillary Lindsey are “Jesus Take the Wheel,” “So Small" and “Just a Dream”— each recorded by megastar, Carrie Underwood. Artists such as Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Hillary Duff, and Martina McBride have also cut Lindsey’s songs. Author and humorist, Darrell Huckaby, will emcee the event. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Talmadge Auditorium at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton. Proceeds from the show will go to Clovers & Co. Seating is lim ited. Kindergarten registration dates announced Registration for kindergarten students for the 2009-2010 school year will take place on Thursday, March 19, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Friday. March 20, from 8 a.m.^t p.m. All children who will be five years old by Sept. 1, 2009, should be registered at this time, school officials said. Parents should bring their child and teh following documentation to the registration: the child’s Social Security number, birth certificate, immunization record and proof of residency in the school district where they are being registered. MCHS class of ^9 hosting reunion Aug. 8 The MCHS Class of ’99 will hold its 10-year reunion. Saturday, Aug. 8, at 6 p.m at Camp Kiwanis in Danielsville. Tickets are $35 per person. Thirty FFA members attend ed the after school meeting held Feb. 10 at the Freshman Academy to create Valentine’s Day Cards for the elderly in the Comer Nursing Home. The students worked on the cards for about two hours and then on Friday, Feb. 13, six of the Freshman Academy FFA officers helped deliver the cards to each person in the Comer Ty Cobb Nursing Home Center.
