Born in Delaware County, Ind., he was the son of the late John T. Arnold and Juanita Bernice Bradshaw Minish. He was an auto mechanic. Survivors include a son, Michael Lee Arnold III, Commerce; brother, Jeff Arnold, Commerce; sisters, Judith Banister, Danielsville, Tenda White and Ila Sheridan, both of Commerce. March 12, 2009. ‘Bobby’ Bailey JEFFERSON - Robert Milton Bailey, 86, long-time executive of Jefferson Motor Company and a World War II veteran who flew over “The Hump" from Burma to China, died Thursday, March 5, 2009. Born in Jefferson, he was the son of the late George Wyatt and Minnie Caroline White Bailey. He was a graduate of Martin Institute and the University of Georgia. Mr. Bailey served in the United States Air Force during World War II, eventually retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. For 55 years, Mr. Bailey held the Ford dealership, Jefferson Motor Company, and had remained active in the firm until recently. He was a former mayor of the City of Jefferson, a past president of the Jefferson Rotary Club, and a life-long member of the Jefferson First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Aderholt Bailey; three sons and daugh ters-in-law, Bob and Sue Bailey, Lawrenceville, Jimmy and Sylvia Bailey, Jefferson, Tom and Leigh Bailey, Buford; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 7, at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson with Jon Appleton officiating. Burial was in the Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson. He graduated from East Carolina University with a bachelor's degree in 1961, and was of the Baptist denomination. He was a United States Air Force vet eran, having served as a lieu tenant in the Korean Conflict. He retired with over 25 years of dedicated service in man agement with the Centers for Disease Control. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma B. Hall. He was the mayor of Statham for 24 Vi years, was a 50-year member of Statham Masonic Lodge and the Statham American Legion, was owner/ operator of Holliday Lumber Company, and a member of The Disciples of Christ. He portrayed Father Christmas at many events. He was retired as an engineer from Athens Clarke County and was a veteran, hav ing served in the United States Army, Vietnam. She was a member of St. Anthony's Episcopal Church, a volunteer for the Helping Hands pro gram at Jefferson Elementary School, a story teller for chil dren, the genealogist for her family, a Master Gardener for the State of Georgia, and an avid gardener of heirloom varieties of flowers. She vol unteered for many local orga nizations and was a sweet- spirited person who was loved by many. She was a graduate of North Augusta High School in 1966 and a graduate of West Georgia College as an anthropologist. Mrs. lanuario was preceded in death by her husband, Tony lanuario. Survivors include daughters, Tonia McGrew, Lexington, S.C., and Mary Ann C. Collins, Bonaire; grandchild, Alexander Johnson; brother, James Reese Brewer III, New Orleans, La.; and a sister, Jane Brewer Brewster, Evans.
