Florrie Baughcum
ATHENS - Florrie
Burt Baughcum, 90, died
Saturday, March 21, 2009.
Born in Crawford on
January 27, 1919, she
was the daughter of the
late William J. and Pearl
Adkins Burt. She was a
longtime Athens resident
and a faithful member
of Beech Haven Baptist
Church until her health pre
vented her from attending.
She was retired from Belk
Department Store after
17 years of employment
and was the last surviv
ing member of her family.
Mrs. Baughcum was pre
ceded in death by her hus
band, Ernest Baughcum;
siblings, Dolphus Burt,
William “Bill” Burt, and
Connie Burt Colquitt.
She loved her church
and continued to be a
faithful prayer warrior up
until her death, loved ones
stated. She was a person
that touched whom ever
she came in contact with,
showering love and kind
ness to all. She prayed
many powerful and faith
ful prayers for those she
knew and for those she
did not know. Her life was
an awesome testimony
of love, kindness, gentle
ness, courage, devotion
and a strong passion for
the Lord. Many lives have
been touched and enriched
by her.

law, Janice and Kenneth

Gene Couch, Colbert, and
Arretta and David Piatek,
Athens; grandchildren,
Russell Couch, Atlanta,

at Evergreen Memorial
Park with Stewart B.
Simms and the Rev.
Russell Couch officiating.

School, and was involved
in an auto accident in 2001.

Bradberry, 75, formerly of
Winder, died Wednesday,
March 18, 2009.
Born in Winder, he was
the son of the late Connie
W. and Pauline Hogan
Bradberry. He attended
New Hope Baptist Church
and was retired from the
Winder Post Office after
30 years of service. Mr.
Bradberry was preced
ed in death by his first
wife, Mary Ann Ross
Bradberry.

Russum Coker, 90, died
Saturday, March 21, 2009,
at the Cobb Health Care
Center in Comer.
Born in Madison County
on April 19, 1918, she
was the daughter of the
late Luther and Elizabeth
Norton Russum. She was
a retired seamstress, hav
ing worked with Blue Bell
Manufacturing in Comer.
She was a member of the
Comer Baptist Church and
the Madison County Senior
Citizens Association. Mrs.
Coker was preceded in
death by her husband,
Cephus Coker; brothers,
Luther and Arthur Russum;
and sisters, Burt Graham,
Mary Martin, Ann Taylor
and Jane Graham.
Survivors include sons
and daughters-in-law,
Randolph and Rachel
Coker, Comer, Reginald
and Malinda Coker,
Bowman; grandchildren

W. “Butch” Cotton, 67, of
Commerce, died Monday,
March 23, 2009, at his
residence.
Born in Banks County,
he was the son of the late
P.D. and Clara Belle Odell
Cotton and was a truck
driver. Mr. Cotton was pre
ceded in death by brothers,
Jerry and Bob Cotton; and
a sister, Sara Webb.
Survivors include his

County, he was the son of

Bradberry
Couch. He

Athens Super Market for
a number of years, was
retired from Bells Food
Store, was a member
of the Princeton United
Methodist Church, and
had served in the Georgia
National Guard.
Survivors include his
wife of 51 years, Vickie
Lorene Bales Couch,
Athens; daughter, Cathy
Heard (Shaefer), Bishop;
son, Eddie Couch (Kim),
Mt. Airy, formerly of
Hull; grandchildren,
Justin Couch (Brenna),

Joseph Damiano, 69, died

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y.,
he was the son of the late

Milone Damiano. A
member of St. Matthews
Catholic Church and the
Knights of Columbus
at St. Matthews, he was
also a member of the Hog
Association (the Harley
Owners Group), and was
retired from AT & T.

She was born on April
19, 1936, in Oglethorpe

Sue Hicks Fair. She grad

County High School and
worked as a secretary for
Cotton States Insurance
Company with the Howard
Agency in Colbert for 42
years. She was a member
of Danielsville Methodist
Church, and loved shop
ping, going to movies, and
taking care of animals,
loved ones stated.

Charlie Freeman
BOX ELDER, S.D.
Charlie Crawford
Freeman 66, formerly of
Gainesville, died Tuesday,
February 3, 2009, at Rapid
City Regional Hospital.
He was born December
6, 1942, in Cleveland, the
son of the lmmaj —
late Hubert 181M I
and Dorothy
Freeman. He
joined the United States
Air Force on June 2, 1961,
and served his country in
Vietnam in 1966-1967. In
1976, Charlie was stationed
at Ellsworth Air Force
Base and had made Box
Elder his home. He retired
as a Master Sergeant from
the Air Force in 1987 and
from Civil Service April
1, 2008.
Charlie served the com
munity as Little League
President and spent time
coaching baseball. He was
an avid bowler. He loved
bowling, fishing, plant
ing trees, being with his
family and especially his
grandkids. Charlie was
always willing to help oth
ers and never asking for
anything in return. On July
19, 2004, Charlie received
a kidney transplant that
helped him enjoy a few
more years. Mr. Freeman
was preceded in death
by a brother, Clarence
Freeman.
Survivors include his

Born in Hall County, she

late James Madison and
Gordia Savannah Deaton
Long. She was the last
of 10 children, was the
oldest living member of
Bethabara Baptist Church,
and was a homemaker and
farmer. Mrs. Gasaway was
preceded in death by her
husband, Luther Sanders
Gasaway; and a son. Merle
Kress Gasaway.
Survivors include a

Gasaway, Statham; and
several nieces and neph
ews.
Funeral services were
held Tuesday, March 24,
