Born in Madison County on May 28, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Callie Scarborough Baxter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fonnie C. "Fuzz” Adams; son. Burlan T. Adams; sisters, Myrtie Baxter, Annie Mae Adams, Margaret Lord; brothers, Allen, Roy, Paul and Marvin Baxter; great-grand daughter. Chelsea Richardson; and her beloved black poodle, Pepper. Prior to her passing, she was the oldest member of Union Baptist Church and was retired from Bluebell Manufacturing Company. She was totally devoted to her family, and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great- great-grandmother, loved ones stated. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Riley Adams; daughter, Peggy Porterfield Weaver; grand children, Bron, Derek. Kevin, Todd and Ryan Porterfield, Roxanne Richardson. Patsy Chandler and Lynn Adams; 13 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late William T. and Erma Lou Rowe Allen. He was a mem ber of Moon’s Grove Baptist Church, was a farmer and car penter, and was a veteran hav ing served during World War II. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Shaw Allen; and second wife, JoAnn Shaw Allen. Survivors include daughters, Cheryl Allen (Lanier) Simmons, Debi Shaw; son, Brad (Michelle) Shaw; sisters, Catherine Sorrow, Marie (Tyson) Jenkins; broth er, Grady Allen; grandchil dren, Renea Simmons, Alan (Adrienne) Simmons, Ryan Simmons; and great-grandson, Walker Simmons. Born in Forsyth County on June 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Hall Monroe and Mary Robb Benson. She was preced ed in death by all of her imme diate fam ily, which included 16 brothers, half brothers, sisters and half sisters. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing, rocking in her rocking chair, and especially loved her dolls and her late sister, loved ones stated. Survivors include a special niece, Martha Ann Cooper, Jefferson; nieces, Mary Williams, Talmo, Sandra Edwards, Woodstock, and Merita Beatty, Newnan; neph ews, Roy Evans, Pendergrass, Bradford and Jimmy Benson, Jefferson; along with nieces and nephews out of the local area; and a special nurse, Louise Brown, Commerce. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 16, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Webb officiating. Burial was in the Pendergrass Baptist Church Cemetery. RayLeen Campbell ALTO - RayLeen Katherine Pearl Campbell, 64, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Born on April 13, 1944, in Los Angeles, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth Jones Pearl. She grew up in Laconia, N.H., spent many years in St. Petersburg, Fla., and retired in Banks County on the family farm. She was a member of The Vine in Braselton. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Pearl. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Cleve W. He was retired from Greenwood Mills, Plant #5, where he was a member of the Greenwood Mills Quarter Century Club, and was a veter an, having served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member and for mer deacon of Beulah Baptist Church and was a member of the Men’s Bible Class. Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Dixon; and sisters, L.E. Coile, Jeanette Coile, Geneva Martin, Bessie Ruth Simmons and Virginia Dixon. She was the oldest living member of Friendship Baptist Church and was an active member for over 70 years. Mrs. Drake was pre ceded in death by her husband, George W. Drake; and a grand daughter, Becky Drake. He will be — remembered for the gentle man he was, to animals and mankind alike, and will be dearly missed, loved ones stated. Born in Haskell, Texas, on June 1, 1923, he was the son of the late William M. “Bill” and Bessie Lee Tysinger Luper. He was an owner and operator in the real estate industry, was a member of the Royston Church of God, and a member of the Elk’s Club and the V.F.W. He was a veter an, having served in the United States Air Force during World War II. Mr. Luper was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Elaine Iseman Luper. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Edee Luper, Big Pine, Calif., Mike and Cindy Luper, Royston; grandchildren, Eve Marie Wingler, Colton Luper, Tyson Wingler, Heidi Hartness, Robert Luper and David Luper; great-grandchildren, Morgan Hartness, Macy Hartness and Joel Luper; brothers, Burl Luper, Arkansas, and William Edgar Luper. Daniel Martin COMMERCE - Daniel Martin, 72, died Monday, March 30, 2009, at his residence. Born in Wayne County, Mich., he was the son of the late Dan D. and Marry Dani Martin. He was a mem ber of the Protestant faith and graduated from Lowry High School in Dearborn, Mich. He was retired as road commission er from Wayne County, Mich, in 1973 and retired from Pinellas County Parks Department as a parks supervisor in 1998. He served in the United States Army during the Korean war as a medical corpsman. Survivors include his wife, Donna Hull Martin, Commerce; daughter, Denise L. Minter, Minnesota; sons, Daniel J. Martin and Dean A. Martin, both of Florida; brothers, James M., Harry J. and Patrick Martin, all of Florida; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 18, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Little- Ward Funeral Home with David Bowen officiating. The family will receive friends at the funer al home from 1 p.m. until ser vice time on Saturday, and also at the residence immediately following the service. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by husband, Paul Miller; and a sister, Dolly Tanksley. She enjoyed trout fishing, but above all else was a devoted grandmother, loved ones stated. He served in the United States Marines for 20 years, was a medical pho tographer for Orange County Hospital in California. He was retired from the City of Atlanta Police Department, where he was a criminal photographer for 20 years. Survivors include his com panion, Louise Moore, Statham; son, Goodwin "Wynn" O'Neal III, Sikesville, Md.; daughters, Pam Chapman, Lexington and Deborah “D.C." She was retired from Oxford Manufacturing and was a char ter member of the New Hope Worship Center, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and member of the Women’s Ministry. Mrs. Phelps was pre ceded in death by her husband, Harry Hubbard Phelps; daugh ter, Annie R. Price; and great- grandson, Shawn Hill. He was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church and was a veter an, having served in the United States Army. He was retired from Southern Railway with 18 years of service. He loved fishing, sharing the fish with his neighbors and friends, raising chickens, spending time with his family, going to church and fellowship with friends.
