She attend ed the New Pentecost United Methodist Church, and retired from Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, where she was a L.P. Nurse. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lee Brown. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Brenda Brown, Lithonia, Ed and Jean Brown, Lilburn, Wayne and Debbie Brown, Leesburg, and Grady and Kim Brown, Panama City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker, a member of the Bethel M Baptist Church, and also attended David’s Home Holiness Church. Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John Dalton; and a brother, Paul Joe Code. Survivors include a neph ew and wife, Roger and Sally Code, Comer; and a sister, Vonnie Sue Lunsford, Royston. He was retired from Reliance Electric with 23 years of service, and was a veter an, having served in the United States Army dur ing World War II. Mr. Dowdy was preceded in death by a brother, Lyndon Dowdy; and sister, Annette Smith. He was a loving father, husband, and loyal friend to his family and friends loved ones stated. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Storey Dowdy, Jefferson; daugh ters and son-in-law, Mandy McLeroy, Wanda and Dwight Standridge, all of Jefferson; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Gertrude Flanagan GAINESVILLE Gertrude Bishop Flanagan, 81, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at her residence follow ing an extended illness. Born on December 14, 1927, she was the daughter of the late W.T. and Fairlena Wilson Bishop. She worked for 37 years and retired from Chicopee. She was employed as a loom filter for Chicopee and was the first and only woman to ever hold that position. She was a charter member of South Hall Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer and was active in every field of her church. Mrs. Flanagan was preceded in death by a son, Bradley Lee Norris; and grandson, Scotty Norris. She was an avid deer and turkey hunter, and loved fishing and camping with her family, loved ones stated. Survivors include her hus band of 35 wonderful years, Frank Falnagan; daugh ter, Paulette Turk; sons and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Wayne Norris and Debbie Norris, Jefferson, and Ricky Flanagan; grandchildren, Gregg and April Lunsford, Patti Bynum, Keith Flanagan; great-grandchildren, Devin and Brad Bynum, Cody and Ashley Lunsford; and a step daughter, Kathy Tony. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps Division, serving in World War II, and retired from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 613. Survivors include children, George and Betty Guest, Mt. Airy, and Jane Kittle and fiance, Jerry Stafford, Hull; brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Louise Guest, Athens; grandchildren, Donna Guest, Laura Guest, Tommy Guest, Becky Guest, Corbin Kittle and Brian Kittle. He was a mason for 58 years, a member of the Pipe Fitters Union from 1953 until 1991, and was a former deacon at Danielsville Baptist Church. He was a member of Colbert Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by broth ers, Jerry Hall, Robert Hall and George Hall; and a great grandchild, Rhett Thomas Myers.
