A Barrow County native and former Atlanta area resi dent, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Jessie Watson Willard and had lived in Walton County since 1992. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandy Martin. Survivors include her husband, John A. Born in Clarke County on April 13, 1956, he was the son of Jacqueline Martin of Watkinsville, and Robert Bryant Martin Sr., and step son of Helen Martin, Athens. He was a 1975 graduate of Cedar Shoals High School and a graduate of Gainesville College. He was employed for many years as Human Resources Manager with Athens Packaging/Keebler and was a supervisor at Chico’s. Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife of 20 years. Missy; children, Ashley, Brittany and Courtney; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Mike Epps, Watkinsville; stepbrothers, Dr. David Wortham and Scott Wortham, both of Anderson, S.C.; and a number of nieces and neph ews. Rosemary Massey COMMERCE - Rosemary Carol Caddock Massey, 90, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Athens. Born on November 29, 1918, in Kenosha, Wis., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Henry and Lillian Drapp Caddock. She gradu ated from Kenosha High School in Kenosha, Wis., and worked as a nurse’s aide at Kenosha Hospital and as a nanny for a family with three daughters. While working for and traveling with this fam ily, she met her husband of 62 years, Shelby Lee Massey Sr., in Atlanta. They were wed November 4, 1942, in Commerce at the First Baptist Church Parsonage and she began her life as a military wife and mother. Mrs. Massey was preceded in death by her husband; a grandchild, Elizabeth Carol Buchanan; brother, Earl Caddock; and sister, Rita Caddock Hartnell. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Shelby L. “Butch” Massey Jr. and Martha Massey, Darrel A. She was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church and was a seamstress at Carwood Manufacturing with 30 years of service. Mrs. Meeler was preceded in death by her hus band, Swayne Meeler; sons, Loyd and Billy Meeler; and brothers, George S., Talmadge, and Ford Caudell. Survivors include a daugh ter, Eva Mae Evans, Willis, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, James N. and Melva Jean Meeler, Cornelia; sisters, Marie Wilkinson, Baldwin, Marilyn Caldwell, Chamblee, and Bobbie Taylor, Baldwin; brother, PG. Dorothy Riggins PATTERSON - Dorothy Aline Dixon Riggins, 91, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Satilla Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. A native of Pierce County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Henry “Lester” Dixon and Mattie Lee Jackson Dixon. She had lived all of her life in Patterson, was a retired school teacher and secretary, and a former trea surer of the Retired Educators Association. She was the old est living member of Patterson Baptist Church, where she had sung in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Riggins was preceded in death by her hus band, Robert Truman “R.T.” Riggins. She loved to travel and ‘sight see’ in many differ ent places, loved ones stated. Survivors include daugh ters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Jimmy Mock, Jefferson, and Gail and Bill Jordan, St. Simon’s Island; sister, Faye Smith, Montgomery, Ala.; grandchildren and spouses, Holly and Kerry Courchaine, Jefferson, Chris and Ivy Mock, Patterson; great-grandchil dren, Summerlin Courchaine, Langley Courchaine, Bracey Courchaine, Riggs Mock; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives. She was a retired seamstress and member of the Evangelical Methodist Church, the Evangelical Methodist Church Young at Heart Club, and the Happy Traveler’s Club. Mrs. Sexton was preceded in death by her husband. Bud C. Sexton; son- in-law, Gary Tolbert; broth ers, Alfred, John L., Buford and Billy Carey; sisters, Allie Dudley, Cornelia “Nita” Ginn, Hester Sartain and Gladell Sexton; and a granddaughter, Pamela Sexton. A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Thomas Henry and Willie Lois Murray Shelnut. He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years, then he worked in Washington, DC for many years. After retirement, he moved to a farm in Madison County. Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Grace Shelnut, Bogart, and Willie Robert Shelnut II, Virginia; brothers, Dan Shelnut, Atlanta, Hoyt Shelnut, Athens, and Roger Shelnut, Montgomery, Ala.; and two grandchildren. No services are planned at this time. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memo rials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Joseph Neal Timms CLERMONT - Joseph Neal Timms, 88, died Sunday, April 19, 2009. Born on May 4, 1920, in Forsyth County, he was the son of the late “Judge” Joe Timms and Fannie Holbrook Timms. He gradu ated from Piedmont College and George Peabody College, and was with the Gwinnett County School System for over 30 years as an educator and as a principal. He was a member of the Lions Club, as well as the Lawrenceville Masonic Lodge #131 F & AM. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army Air Corps. Mr. Timms was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Timms; and a brother, Billy Timms. Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph Neal “Joe” Timms, Clermont, Pat and Melinda Timms, Dallas; daughters and son-in-law, Pam Timms, Ft. Collins, Colo., Jane and Scott Cleveland, Cleveland; sister, Kathleen Timms Rogers, Cumming; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
