Pa., and Bernadette (Gorman)
Mullaney Watson of Athens.
He was a laboratory techni
cian having been employed
in the medical field for many
years before retiring to assist
in the care of his father. Mr.
Mullaney was preceded in
death by an aunt, Margaret
Peterman, who was like a sec
ond mother to him.

his parents, include his wife,

He was a painter by trade
and was previously a police
officer in Polk County, Fla.,
for many years. He was pastor
of Lighthouse Baptist Church
in Lavonia. Mr. Pointer was
preceded in death by children,
twins, Winfred Lee Pointer
and Penny Jane Pointer, and
Donna Denise Pointer.
Survivors include his wife,

2009, at the Athens Regional
Medical Center in Athens.
Born in Madison County on
January 7, 1934, he was the
son of the late James Floyd
and Ruby Chastain Ray. He
was retired from Franklin
Industries and attended
Corinth Holiness Church. Mr.
Ray was preceded in death by
a grandson, Greg Whitfield;
and brothers, Floyd, James
and Hugh Ray.
Survivors include his wife,

sons, Calvin Ray and David
Ray, both of Royston; daugh
ters, Judy Ellison and Nancy

P. “E.P.” Pruett, 88, died
Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at
Brightmoor Nursing Home.
Born on October 3, 1920,
in Red Level, Ala., he was the
son of the late William Edward
and Dona Mae Gilmore Pruett.
He was the former Pastor
of Griffin First Assembly of
God, Faith Temple and First
Assembly of God in Panama
City, Fla. He was a success
ful businessman having been
the District Superintendent
of the Georgia Assemblies
of God and Co-Founder of
Brightmoor Nursing Home.
He was the second youngest
in the Nation to be a District
Superintendent.
Survivors include his wife,
Beulah H. Pruett; children and
their spouses, Ernest P. Jr.
and Kathryn Pruett, Melanie
Pruett, Darlene and Michael
Whitfield, Gary Nichols
and Darlene Foster; grand
children, Ernest P. Pruett
III, Stacy Pruett, Michelle
Brown, Justin Edwards; 10
great-grandchildren; sister,

Shumake Sikes. He worked in

Center and was a veteran, hav
ing served in the United States
in death by

Melvin Stanley, 61, formerly

11, 2009, at his residence fol
lowing an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on
February 10, 1948, he was the
son of the late J.C. and Beulah
Wade Stanley. He was of the
Holiness denomination and
enjoyed spending time with
friends and family, loved ones
stated. Mr. Stanley was pre
ceded in death by a brother,
George Meeks.

Richard Nathan Stone Sr., 88,
died Monday, April 20, 2009,
at his residence.
Born in Dayton, Ohio,
he was the son of the late
George and Anna Stone and
had lived in Talmo from 1975
until August 2007. He was a
veteran, having
served in the
United States
Army
Air
Corp and the United States
Air Force during World War
II and the Korean War. He
also worked for N.A.S.A. for
many years, as a test engineer.
Mr. Stone was preceded in
death by his wife, Vera Nelle
Stone in 1955.
Survivors include daugh
ters, Pamela Finzel, Patricia
Ramirez; son, Richard Stone;
and a grandson, Craig Finzel.
A reception for friends and
family will be held Saturday,
May 16, from 2-3 p.m. at the
Candler Methodist Church,
Candler Hwy. 60, Candler
Community, in Hall County.
Following the memorial ser
vice, there will be a grave
side service at Talmo Baptist
Cemetery.
