MCHS yearbook staff takes top honors For the second year in a row, the Madison County High School yearbook staff won first place in the Scholastic Press Association's annual yearbook competition for showing excel lence in the fields of writing, photography and page design. In addition to this title, a page designed from the 2008 yearbook by 2008 editor Lauren Scogin was included in Josten’s "2009 Gocha Covered Lookbook, Volume 7." Published annually, “Jostens’ Lookbook” is a col lection of exceptional yearbook pages and covers created by yearbook staffs from across the country. According to "Lookbook” officials, the featured spreads represent visual storytelling at its finest; they demonstrate the important role well-craft- ed design plays in chronicling what is most relevant to student- shared memories, the diversity and richness of their experi ences, and their connection to their friends, their teachers and their school communities. The "2009 Gotcha Covered Look Book, Volume 7,” contin ues the long-standing tradition of showcasing the best-of-the- best. Only 435 yearbooks were selected from the thousands submitted to a panel of judges comprised of nationally recog nized scholastic journalism pro fessionals and award-winning yearbook advisers. Yearbook staffs selected for inclusion in the "2009 Gotcha Covered Lookbook” received a copy of the Lookbook and a certificate from Jostens to recognize their outstanding achievement.
