lannotti, 91, formerly of Oyster
Bay, N.Y., died Thursday, May
28, 2009, following a sudden
illness.
Born in Oyster Bay, N.Y., on
November 16, 1917, she was
the daughter of the late John and
Jenny Maganello Parrella. She
is of the Catholic faith and was
a retired receptionist in the edu
cational system. Mrs. lannotti
was preceded in death by her
husband, Lorenzo Cangero.
Survivors include daughters
and sons-in-law, Jeanne and
Glenn Peterson, Clarkesville,
Patricia and Steven Dudas,
Oyster Bay, N.Y., and Lorraine
Weipert, Glencove, N.Y.; a sister,
Pat Snyder, St. Mary’s; brother,
Vincent Parrella, San Diego,
Calif., and Louis Parrella, Stuart,
Fla.; grandchildren. Heather,
Sherri, Erin, Stephen, Patrick,
Ayla, Aubrey; and great-grand
child, Brian.

Johnson, 70, died Tuesday, June
2, 2009.
Born on December 17, 1938,
in Texas, she was the daughter of
the late Gladys Lambright. She
graduated from Elbert County
High School, and was a cashier
at the Home Depot in Athens.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in
death by her husband, John W.
Johnson.
Survivors include sons and
daughter-in-law, Scott and
Janet Johnson, Jefferson, Keith
Senkbeil, Hartwell; brother,
Dennis Lambright, Crawford;
stepbrother, Kenneth Lambright,

Saturday, June 6, at 11 a.m.,
in the chapel of Evans Funeral
Home. The family will receive
friends Saturday, from 9 to 11
a.m., prior to the service. The
body will be cremated after the
service.

Born on July 17, 1931, in Hall
County, he was the son of the
late Parson and Ola Mae Gee
Mangum. He owned and oper
ated Gene’s Used Cars for 35
years or more, and also owned
several race cars. He was a mem
ber of Fairview Baptist Church,
and was preceded in death by a
son, Kenny Mangum.
Survivors include his wife,

with 38 years of service and was a

vice, and was a United States
Navy veteran. Mr. Mobley was

Thurman, 91, died Saturday,
May 23, 2009.
Born on January 1, 1918, in
Plains, he was the son of Marcus
Sylvester and Nina Elizabeth
Reynolds Thurman.
He was pastor emeritus of
Jefferson Presbyterian Church
and an associate professor emeri
tus of English at the University
of Georgia. For more than 20
years he served as a volunteer
at the State Botanical Garden of
Georgia, and he sponsored 12
disadvantaged children through
six children's aid organizations.
He was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Athens and a
teacher of the Covenant Sunday
School Class.
Mr. Thurman was preceded in
death by his first wife. Marguerite
"Peggy” Whitaker Thurman.
Survivors include his wife,

Thurman; a son, William Richard
Thurman Jr., Thomaston; daugh

COMMERCE - Teresa Carol
Worley, 48, died Wednesday,
May 27, 2009, at BJC Hospital
in Commerce.
Born in Jackson County, she
was the daughter of Vera Brown
Lockman of Commerce and the
late W.C. Lockman.
Survivors in addition to her
mother, include sons, Justin
Worley and Matthew Worley,
both of Commerce; a sister, Tasha
Leopard, Alabama; grandson,
Braydon Worley, Commerce;
and a nephew.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, May 30, in the chapel
of Ivie Funeral Home. Burial
was in the Howington Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce,
was in charge of arrangements.

Bobbie Wright
CORNELIA - Bobbie
Wright, 75, died Monday, June
1, 2009, at her residence follow
ing an extended illness.
Born in Habersham County
on November 5, 1933, she was
the daughter of Vinnie Hicks
Popham of Baldwin and the
late Arvil Popham. She man
aged Clarkesville Cleaners for
27 years, and was a member
of Level Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wright was preceded in
death by a sister, Joyce White.
Survivors in addition to her
mother, include her husband of 53
years, Howard Wright, Cornelia;
daughter and son-in-law, Karen
and Bruce Standridge, Mt. Airy;
son and daughter-in-law, Gary
and Pam Wright, Clarkesville;
brother and sister-in-law, Wayne
and Carol Popham, Clarkesville.
Funeral services were held
Thursday, June 4, at Level Grove
Baptist Church with the Revs.
Brian James and Terry Rice
officiating. Burial was in Yonah
Memorial Gardens.
