Table talk returns by popu
lar demand. Yes, a hot topic
among table-talkin’ vendors and
patrons was, “We want the article
back!’’(Compliments and puppy-
dog eyes are hard to resist.)
Also on the tip of the tongue
was the current spiraling economy,
coupled with the modem decline
of old-fashioned values. A brief
shared belief: “If we taught our
generations to live off the land,
we could better survive the loss of
modem conveniences.”
Since opening day, the Comer
Farmers’ Market vendor list has
boasted familiar favorites andfresh,
friendly faces. Last Saturday, shop
pers enjoyed a satisfying variety of
prepared foods, the onset of early
produce, the world’s best honey,
multi-media artwork, fine cleans
ing items and organic outdoor pest
repellant. Produce included yellow
and zucchini squash, sold-out red
and green-leaf lettuce and mam
moth Russian red kale — Plato’s
pick o’ the market. Prepared items
showcased artisan bread, scones,
gourmet cookies and spice mbs.
Sell-outs were sourdough loaves,
blueberry-walnut and sour cream-
cinnamon loaf cakes, giant gin
ger molasses cookies and key
lime pie. Most popular were free
samples. The most missed were
the Jubilee Partners. The best-kept
secret was Barbara Bendzuna's
bargain, basement-priced pottery
pieces. Market-goers can expect a
growing variety of produce, heir
loom quality gifts, art, a progress
ing assortment of prepared foods
and more price reductions on items
of interest.
Everybody at the CFM salutes
David Court, the main minstrel
and veritable one-man-band who
has entertained us with his musical
stylings. He has inspired vendors
to bring their instruments, turning
table talk into a lyrical melody.
Thanks, David.
The CFM extends an open invi
tation for all musicians to join the
mstic jam sessions.
FARMER S FEEDBACK
Today’s feedback will feature
a summary of vendors' collective
comments.
A lot of rain has been a blessing
for Georgia this season. However,
the longer period of overcast skies
seems to have affected some plants,
which require full sunlight. A good
harvest is still expected.
We have a new website! Current
market information, vendor web-
links and CFM directions can be
accessed at www.comerfin.com.
Interested potential vendors are
encouraged to send an e-mail
to dan@comerfm.com. Please
include name and/or business,
details of merchandise, contact
information and duration of market
attendance. Vendors must respond
by Thursday to be on the weekly
updated list.
The CFM is open Saturdays
from 8 am. to noon under a shel
tered structure with tables provided
at $5 each on a first-come, first-
served basis.
