Thomas Sr. and first lady Jacqueline Thomas. “Please come andjoin the Waggoners Grove Family as we celebrate 11 years of service from our pastor, the Rev. Roy L. Thomas Sr.,” organizers said. R.L. White of the Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church in Atlanta is the guest pastor for the event. The church also plans revival servic es July 13-15 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The guest reverends are Jerry Alexander of Springfield Baptist Church in Athens (July 13), Radford Thomas of Arnold Grove Baptist Church (July 14) and Harvey Peek of Rose Hill Baptist Church (July 15). •The Tri-County Ministerial Association will hold their monthly meeting on Saturday, July 4, at 8 a.m. at the BJC Medical Center confer ence room. All ministers, laypersons and missionaries from Banks, Jackson and Madison counties are invited to attend, organizers said. •Holly Springs Baptist Church, Bowman, announces the following upcoming events: there will be a Pastor’s Anniversary Program on July 12. The program will begin promptly at 3 p.m. with refresh ments to follow the service, church leaders said. The Rev. Marlon Knox of Crossroads Baptist Church will be the guest speaker for this pro gram. Comer Baptist Church is located at 2054 Main Street in Comer. •Freedom Church of God, locat ed at 3428 Neese Commerce Road, invites everyone to join them as they travel back into the old west for “a hand clapping, toe tapping, foot stomping good time” at a Wild West Show. “You’ll meet the hilarious Nebo who’ll keep you laughing and have a heart felt gospel message that might just change your life,” church leaders said. There will be music, puppets, games, prizes and a whole lot more, leaders added.. The Anchor Church holds groundbreaking ceremony A large crowd gathered on Drake Woods Road Thursday evening for a groundbreak ing ceremony for The Anchor Church. Construction is scheduled to begin this week and church lead ers hope to have the project com pleted by Christmas. The new church includes 89 members. Pastor Wendell Hanley spoke at Thursday ceremony, saying The Anchor Church will be a “healing station for souls,” where “we’re anchored in the things that God wants us to be anchored in.” Hanley said the church has received numerous donations and he expressed thanks to all who contributed to Anchor's efforts. For instance, he thanked Kenneth Segars for donating the five acres of land for the church site. He also thanked Little Country Church for allowing members of The Anchor Church, who moved from Liberty Church, to meet temporarily. Anchor youth pastor Richard Duncan and his crew will oversee construction of the church, with church members also pitching in. While church members expressed joy over the upcom ing construction project, they also joined hands and gathered for a moment of prayer with the wife of Travis Adams. The 34-year-old Danielsville man was paralyzed after a river diving accident June 17 and church members prayed to God for him to be healed.
