Now, the 2005 Madison County High School gradu ate has a major tour nament victory on the Georgia PGA cir cuit to this credit. McCain bogeyed just once in the 54-hole Chicopee Woods Players Championship last week in Gainesville, firing a 15-under-par 201 to win the title. Chamberlain placed third in the Stock V-8 division and Wade took third in the Young Guns race. Other Madison County drivers placing over the weekend were Comer’s Jimmy Little (Stock Four Cylinder), Colbert’s Robin Collins (Enduro) and Colbert’s Kenny Collins (Crate Late Model). The Raiders rallied from a 9-0 deficit last weekend in their summer ball season finale to beat Greenbrier, 12-10, finishing the exhibition season at 8-6. The victory over Greenbrier came in the fourth and final game of the Brookwood tournament. Only the Madison County Little League baseball all-stars have yet to play. Their tournament starts Monday against Habersham National. Several teams were off to hot starts as of press time Wednesday. The 9-and-10-year-old baseball team won its first three games by an aggregate score of 42-12 to earn a spot in the semifinals tonight (Thursday) against Habersham American. Meanwhile, the Little League softball all-stars didn't surrender a run in one-sided victories in The Madison County junior league softball all-stars meet at the mound. The team beat Rabun County twice this week. Ben Munro/staff their first two games, outscoring their opponents 34-0. That team was slated to face Rabun County Wednesday in the semifinals, but results weren’t available at press time. In the Junior League softball ranks, Madison County beat Rabun County twice, 7-6 and 11-5. With only two teams in the junior league tournament, Madison County’s two victories gave it the District 7 title. The Junior League team starts state tournament play July 11 at Rabun County.
