July 1, 2009.
Born in Lima, Peru, she
was the daughter of Felipe
M. Elias and Julia E. Elias of
Deerfield Beach, Fla. She was
a member of St. Matthews
Catholic Church.
Survivors in addition to her
parents include her husband,
Ignacio Arrieta, daughters,
Rita E. Krasner and Yessenia
E. Schotte, both of Winder;
grandchildren, Alexander J.
Krasner, Izabella B. Schotte
and Adryna J. Krasner; and

Ballew, infant, died Friday,

Georgia Medical Center,

Born in Hall County on
July 3, 2009, she was the
daughter of Phillip Wayne
and Kristy Glore Ballew.
Infant Ballew was preceded
in death by her grandfather,
Dennis Ray Glore.

Frances Bond
HULL - Frances Brown
Bond, 96, died Saturday, July
4, 2009, just shy of her 97th
birthday.
Born in Hull, she was the
daughter of the late John
Glenn and Carrie Holcomb
Brown. She was a homemaker
for many years and then tran
sitioned to the working world
during the middle of her life.
She was first employed by
Coca Cola Bottling Company
in Americus, before moving
back to North Georgia and set
tling at Smith Boley Brown,
Inc., where she worked until
her retirement after 45 years
with the company. She was
a lifelong member of Hull
Baptist Church and first
attended Hull Baptist as an
infant, where her mother
would lay her under a pew
to sleep during services. A
lifetime resident of Hull, she
lived on Glenn-Carrie Road,
which was named after her
mother and father. After living
a full life, she left many happy
memories for her family and
friends, including an article
that appeared in The Madison
County Journal that captured
what she loved to talk about
the most. In the article “A
Century of Change,” she was
interviewed along with her
sister, Lois Brown Aiken, who
recently celebrated her 100th
birthday, about their child
hood and how the world has
changed. Mrs. Bond’s great
est loves were her church and
her family.
Mrs. Bond was preceded in
death by her husband, Doyle
H. Bond Sr., an infant son;
brothers, Paul Brown, Code
Brown, Curtis Brown, James
Brown; and a sister, Ollie
Brown Patton.
Survivors include a son,
David H. Bond Jr. (Sharon);
daughters, Carolyn Bond
Howell (Buzz), and Joan
Bond; sister, Lois Brown
Aiken; six grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren, with
another due in August; and
one great-great-grandchild.
Her youngest daughter, Joan,
was her caretaker for many
years.
Funeral services were
held Monday, July 6, at Hull
Baptist Church. Burial was
at Jones Chapel Methodist
Church cemetery.

Human Brown, 93, died
Saturday, July 4, 2009, at the
Cobb Memorial Hospital in
Royston.
Born in Madison County on
February 15, 1916, she was
the daughter of the late Lewis
Seaborn and Dexter Ann
(Bessie) Christian Human.
She was a seamstress, former
member of the Eastern Star,
and member of the Mill Shoal
Baptist Church, where she
was the oldest active mem
ber. Mrs. Brown was preced
ed in death by her husband,
Goldman Brown.
Survivors include a son,
Paul Brown, Royston; two
grandchildren; and four great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Monday, July 6, in the cha
pel of Pruitt Funeral Home
with the Rev. Chad Eason
officiating. Burial was in the
Mill Shoal Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Carter, 73, died, Saturday,
July 4, 2009.
She was the daughter
of the late Henry and Dora
Etheridge Gilliland. She had
resided in Barrow County
for most of her life and had
attended Bethabra Baptist
Church. Mrs. Carter was pre
ceded in death by her hus
band, Harold Carter.
Survivors include children,
Wade Carter, Pendergrass,
and Lori Hudson, Hoschton;
seven grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; sister,
Betty Brady, Cornelia; broth
ers, Quniton Gilliland, Sr.,

Freeberg Arp. She was a
member of the Arms of Grace
Lutheran Church.

daughters and son-in-law,

Kay Crabb, all of Jefferson;
five grandchildren; brothers,

Richard Hardigree, 50, died
Sunday, July 5, 2009.
Born in Barrow County, he
was the son of Harold and
Louise McCain Hardigree of
Winder. A member of the New
Pentecost United Methodist
Church, he was a 1977 gradu
ate of Winder Barrow High
School, where he ran track,
setting several records. He
loved to spend time with his
nieces and nephews.
Survivors in addition to
his parents include brothers.

Hardigree, both of Winder,
and Keith Hardigree, Bogart;
and nieces and nephews.

W. “Woody” Hix, 70, died
Saturday, July 4, 2009, at
Northeast Georgia Medical
Center, Gainesville, follow
ing a brief illness.
Born in Hall County on
September 18, 1938, he was
the son of the late Thomas
and Clara Loggins Hix. He
was a Methodist minister
for 48 years having served
at various churches includ
ing Living Mission United
Methodist Church, Mount
Zion United Methodist
Church, Pleasant Grove
United Methodist Church,
where he was a member,
Macedonia United Methodist
Church, Corinth Baptist
Church and Calvary Temple.
He was also a self-employed
mechanic and an active mem
ber of the Cherokee Gun
Club, Gainesville.
In addition to his parents
Mr. Hix was also preceded
in death by a sister, Mary
Frances Hix, and three broth
ers, Guy Hix, Cohen Hix and
an infant brother.
Survivors include his wife
of 51 years, Linda J. Hix,
Alto; daughter and son-in-
law, Donna and Terry Scott,
Alto; son and daughter-in-law,
Reggie and Sonya Hix, Alto;
sister, Maezelle Martin, Alto;

death by her first husband,
Luman Pattillo; and her sec
ond husband, Lavell Lindsey.

Earle Victor Adams and
Nellie Belle Springer Adams.
She was a homemaker and
a member of the Jefferson
Presbyterian Church where
she was an elder and a choir
member. She was a member
and treasurer of the Women
of the Church, a volunteer
reading teacher at the I.W.
Davis Detention Center and
a volunteer at the Sardis/JPC
Food Bank.
Survivors include her
husband, Robert “Doc”
McCreery, Jefferson; chil
dren, Betty and Bill Turner,
Bill and Sharon McCreery,
Eleanor and Clyde Brannen

of the late Amos Allen and
Mollie Ruth Jackson. A vet

Navy, he had
been in busi
ness in Habersham County
since 1955. He was the owner
of Baldwin Produce, Cornelia
Produce and Grocery, the
Panorama Restaurant, and a
pillow factory. Mr. Morris was
preceded in death by his wife,
Thelma Fay Wood Morris;
and brothers, CY “Tubby”
Morris and Bill Morris.
Survivors include a
daughter, Arnetta M. Goss,
Cornelia; son and daughter-
in-law, Mack and Janice
Morris, Lula; granddaughter
and grandson-in-law, Cathy
and Eddie Pruitt; grandson,
Jamie Goss; great-grandchil

a brother, Dewey Williamson;

Baxter. She was a homemak
er and a seamstress for many
years.
