Elberton man arrested for
terroristic threats, obstruction
An Elberton man was
arrested last week following
a 911 hang up call from Rose
Hill Place subdivision.
Adam Heard IV, 25, 1356
Old Middleton Road, was
charged with one count each
of obstruction of an officer,
interference with a 911 call
and terroristic threats and
acts.
According to the incident
report, deputies responded to
a hang up call and while en
route, the dispatcher updated
that there had been another
call, with background noise
of a heated argument.
When deputies arrived, a
woman walked into the yard
with a man (Heard) right
behind her. The two were
separated and the woman pro
vided a written statement that
Heard had held a knife to her
throat and said “call the police
now.” She also showed depu
ties where Heard allegedly
pulled the phone jack from
the wall as she spoke with
911 dispatch. While the vic
tim was interviewed, Heard
reportedly broke free and ran
into a wood line behind a next
door residence. After a foot
pursuit. Heard was captured,
placed in handcuffs and taken
to the Madison County Jail
for processing.
In another arrest, a Hull
man was charged with family
violence last week after an
altercation with his girlfriend.
William Matthew Autry,
24, 852 Wardlaw Road, was
charged with one count each
of criminal trespass FVA, bat
tery FVA and false imprison
ment FVA.
According to the incident
report, deputies were sum
moned to a residence on
Joyce Court on June 21
with the report of someone
potentially harming himself.
When deputies arrived, they
interviewed Autry, who said
he was having problems in
his relationship with his girl
friend. The deputies noted the
odor of alcohol coming from
his person.
Autry advised that the dis
pute turned physical when his
girlfriend made contact with
him and that he may have
struck her in the nose in an
attempt to protect himself.
While interviewing Autry,
the 911 Center reported a
call from Autry’s girlfriend
and Deputy Douglas Martin
left the scene to interview
her at a home on Doris Lane.
The woman appeared visibly
upset and complained of back
pain. She told Deputy Martin
that Autry had made physical
contact with her at the Doris
Lane address and had caused
damage to the residence.
She was transported by
Madison County EMS to St.
Mary’s for her injuries and
Autry was taken to Athens
Regional for a mental evalu
ation.

JULY 4„.As Americans celebrate,
we do so under the shadow of
war. On September 11, 2001, “a

we declared war on “terrorism.”
The U.S. now leads a world-wide

Children and young people in
America also face a sinister

that has been unleashed upon

Terroristic threats
reported on Hwy. 98
Terroristic threats and acts were reported on Neese
Commerce Road when a pastor reported that a man pointed
a gun at him.
According to the incident report, the victim reported that he
had pulled out of a driveway on Neese Commerce and turned
left on Hwy. 98 when a black Nissan Sentra passed him on
a double yellow line. The pastor said he blew the horn at the
vehicle and that the white male driver with dark hair and a
mustache responded by “shooting him a bird.”
As he continued behind the Nissan, the driver then allegedly
pulled a rifle out of the window and displayed it twice before
pulling into the golf course near the Jackson County line and
pointing it at the victim. The pastor provided a tag number
and deputies attempted to locate the registered driver at his
listed address. A relative there told deputies that the man was
in a drug rehab center. The victim was advised of the war
rant process and stated that he would pursue charges through
magistrate court.
In another incident, a man on Gunnell Road reported that
his home had been burglarized.
According to the incident report, there was no sign of forced
entry. Children who live at the residence said they noticed a
suspicious vehicle, described as a 2000 Chevy Impala with
tinted windows, as they were leaving. The vehicle was report
edly driven by a white male with a dark complexion and short
dark hair. A few moments later, the man’s wife came home
